Priceline Hotel: Looking for Syracuse Clay hotel

Hi,

I'm a newbie and decided to give Priceline or Hotwire a try. I need to book a room in Syracuse Clay near Liverpool area for Sat, July 18. My two hotel choices are Hampton Inn in Liverpool or Fairfield Inn in Syracuse Clay. The problem is that I can't seem to be able to identify the area for Priceline search. I think it falls to the edge of Airport area but I'm afraid that I might be wrong. We're driving from Jersey Shore to ON, Canada and were looking for a stopover hotel with shopping nearby and I liked Hampton and Fairfiled location because of their proximity to the Great Northern Mall. Do you have any suggestions as to how can I narrow down the search in both Hotwire and Priceline?

HOTWIRE does not offer service in that area. For PRICELINE, if you search for "Clay, NY", there is a specific circular-shaped zone for Clay, in the Great Northern Mall area.

The two hotels you mentioned, right at the intersection of Routes 481 and 31, are the only two hotels I know of in that zone. It's possible priceline could offer a roadside motel or bed&breakfast for bidding but I'm not aware of any of those, either. It's mostly rural and residential.

Two questions to consider:

1) How many people are in your party? Priceline will only guarantee you occupancy for two people. This could mean one double or queen bed. Is that acceptable?

2) If you're looking for a stopover with shopping, is there a reason you are not considering the Carousel Mall area? You could stay downtown or by the airport and have a quick drive to that mall, which is much larger.

We are traveling with three kids so one bed is definitely not suitable for us. Sounds like that might not be a very good idea for this trip to use the PRICELINE as we might end up with having a one bed only. Thank you for the info!

So you have 5 people in total? How would you accommodate that many people when booking directly? A room with two beds? Or two rooms?

You could book two separate rooms with PRICELINE. That may still end up being cheaper than booking one room directly. You could also use HOTWIRE elsewhere in Syracuse. You can specify up to FOUR people per room on hotwire, which may work out ok if one of the children is small enough.

What is your plan if you don't use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE?

Hi, I was planning to book a room with two Queen beds. My son is 6 so he could share a bed with my husband and I. I'm still trying to give HOTWIRE a try and trying to identify Best Western Liverpool Grace. I figured that it would be in Lake Onondaga area and currently it shows two listings available which could be Best Western as it has a pool:

I've been giving those results a lot of thought and investigation.

Because of the combination of pool and airport shuttle, I think the MOST LIKELY result for the 2.5* is either the Wingate or the Comfort Inn & Suites on Buckley Road. Since Wingates are usually 3* hotels in HOTWIRE, I think the Comfort Inn is more likely.

The 3* is more difficult. There's a chance it could also be the Comfort Inn & Suites. It's probably something else, though. It may be the Ramada or the Holiday Inn, though that seems unlikely, as the amenities don't quite match.

To answer a specific question you asked, neither one matches the last report of the Best Western Liverpool Grace. However, since that hotel hasn't been reported since last year, there's a chance the amenities have changed. The 3* MIGHT be the Grace, if that is the case.

Overall, though, I have low confidence in my guesses.
