Squizza Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Can anyone help me find out the name of this hotel: Fitness Centre, Pool, Restaurants, Business Centre and High Speed Internet Access.Up for $149 per room per night.Travelling from UK for our honeymoon, is Hollywood best place to stay to see sights? Don't fancy driving but want to see Disney, Universal Studios, Hollywood homes, shopping - apologies if this is in the wrong forum, 1st time on.Thank you.
Colfax Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding, Squizza, and congratulations on your upcoming honeymoon. That looks like a match for the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. There's no one best place for seeing all the sights of LA as they're scattered, but Hollywood is certainly one of the most central locations. The Walk of Fame is right there, it's very easy to catch tour buses from Hollywood, and Metro (the train) is almost across the street from the Roosevelt, which you can take to downtown LA and Universal Studios without driving. You'll still need to drive to some of your other destinations though. If you're spending a day or two at Disney maybe think about getting a nice hotel near Disney/Anaheim for that night, rather than spending all five nights in Hollywood, and having to drive back and forth the same day. Finally I think you can probably beat HOTWIRE's $149 rate by bidding for a 4* on PRICELINE. On Priceline you might win the Renaissance OR Roosevelt. Someone can suggest a strategy if you're interested. Please use these HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links for your purchases.
Squizza Posted July 14, 2009 Author Report Posted July 14, 2009 Thanks for your reply, that's very helpful. Not booked anywhere yet as was waiting for credit card to arrive (it has now.) Like the look of Roosevelt or Renaissance - is there a strategy for picking which one you want? (although unsure which one at the moment anyway)Also like the look of Andaz, but again looks like there any many 4* west hollywood hotels listed on priceline so not sure if its best to stick with Roosevelt or Renaissance.
Colfax Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 You can usually identify the Roosevelt on Hotwire in advance by its icons, if it's available. The Renaissance hasn't been reported on HOTWIRE yet.If you bid on PRICELINE you could win either Renaissance or Roosevelt and there's no strategy that improves your chance of getting one over the other. But first, have you decided to spend all five nights in LA area, Squizza, or will you be spending a night or two near Disney?
Squizza Posted July 15, 2009 Author Report Posted July 15, 2009 Hi Clofax,I think we will stay all 5 in LA and get a coach to Disney in Anaheim for the day, think it only takes about 1 or 1 1/2 hours? Really don't fancy getting a car, even with a sat nav I'm dangerous at directions and those freeways seem huge. Our plan is day shopping, day universal, day disney, day bus tour of homes and sites and lazy day having a wander/tourist bus hop on/off (not in any order but will do disney on a week day)Priceline seems cheaper so may go for that and hopefor the best, was unsure whether to bid twice, a 2 night stay to start to see what I get and then a further 3 nights or just bite the bullet and go for all 5.Cheers for all your help.

Squizza Posted July 15, 2009 Author Report Posted July 15, 2009 Hi Thereuare,Reckon I will go with priceline as seems that can get hotels I like the look of for approx $100, whereas seem about $150 on hotwire. Was worried about bidding and getting hotel I don't fancy in West Hollywood or Hollywood. Hollywood has many 4* and fancy Andaz, which seems to have lots of success, but obviously can't guarantee it.Therefore will prob go for West Hollywood as seems 4* will more than likely be Renaissance or Roosevelt. As I said before, not entirely sure which area or hotel to go for but the 3 I mentioned are the shortlist, I fancy Andaz, wife to be fancies Renaissance so more than likely she will win!!Sorry to be so confusing and undecided, basically want the cheapest hotel of the 3, using the cheapest tool with the best facilities and decent location near to restuarants and local transport. Will probably book all 5 nights together, but again am flexible if I need to be.God I waffle, sorry!!
thereuare Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 ...not entirely sure which... hotel to go for but the 3 I mentioned are the shortlist...To repeat, so that you're not disappointed, you can't "go for" a specific hotel... you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the minimum star level that you select. There is no way to target a specific hotel with PRICELINE.If you're trying to target, or avoid, a particular property, HOTWIRE may be a better option.Let us know once decide how you want to proceed and are ready to move forward... we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Squizza Posted July 16, 2009 Author Report Posted July 16, 2009 Had a look and going to go Priceline in Hollywood as only the reported 4* hotels are renaissance and Roosevelt so wouldn't be overly disappointed if didn't get Renaissance. Seems cheaper and worth the gamble I hope! Thanks for all your help, will bid in next couple of days (via the PRICELINE link) and report how I got on.
thereuare Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 If you'd like help with a bidding strategy feel free to bump this thread once you're ready to bid. Thanks in advance for using our PRICELINE link.Good luck.
