Need HELP Booking for 4* USE 8/20/09-8/25/09

Would like to spend around $75/night. Should I try bidding with Priceline or just use Hotwire? The Hotwire rates for 4* hotels in USE right now are $89.

Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Whether to use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE depends what is most important to you... are you looking for the lowest price for a 4* hotel for this stay and comfortable with a property anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone as defined by PRICELINE OR are you willing to pay a little more to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive and know ahead of time the amenities that the property has.

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.

Welcome to BetterBidding, brookemal.

How many adults and children in your party? Priceline reservations are for double occupancy, which could be a room with one bed. Will one bed be enough for this trip? If not then Hotwire might be the better choice.

Priceline usually beats Hotwire on price. If Hotwire has a 4* in USE at $89 it's possible you could win a 4* in USE on Priceline for around $75, maybe a few dollars more.

Also note that Hotwire's USE zone has different boundaries and is much larger than Priceline's USE zone. Hotwire's USE zone is two zones on Priceline--USE and SOMA-Moscone. A hotel that Hotwire says is in USE might not be in USE on Priceline.

Awesome help already!

There are two adults in our party. 10 year anniversary = no kids allowed!

The less I spend on hotels, the more money I have to party. The USE shaded area on Priceline is right where I would like to be. Hoping for the Westin St Francis, personally.

My biggest concern is that we book a room and we wind up with 2 double beds. We would prefer a king or queen. What are your thoughts on this And if we go with Priceline, at what price should I begin bidding?

Thanks guys!

Happy Anniversary, brookemal.

Usually if there's a bedding issue in Union Square it's the opposite---a party wants two beds and gets one. Still bedding preferences aren't guaranteed on Priceline and it's a possible you could get a room with two beds, (although I don't think that's very likely).

The Westin is known to have some small rooms and some rooms of decent size but with just one double bed (not a King or Queen). People report different results with getting upgraded; some have been upgraded for free and some have reported being asked $35/night for an upgrade. I think it may depend, at least in part, on how busy the hotel is on the day you arrive. And maybe what shoes you wear.

Also you could win the Grand Hyatt in USE on Priceline.

If you still want to try Priceline you've got four free rebid zones for a 4* in USE. If you need help identifying your free rebid zones please ask.

I suggest bidding $62 for a 4* in USE. Then add your free rebids at $65, 70, 72, and 75.

Please use this PRICELINE link. Good luck!

Never mind. Figured it out for myself. They rejected all 5 free bids....so we added USW for $82. They accepted! Hotel Nikko in USW at $82 per night. Happy to be in central San Fran and in a 4* hotel!

We used your PRICELINE link too. Thanks for the help and will pass on this website to others!
