I had to book a room in Chicago last Wednesday, the 17th. I put it off to long because I wasn't sure daughter could miss a drivers ed class. I wanted to stay downtown for the convenience, but was driving so opted for further out. My next choice was Midway area as I had to go there the 18th to drop wife off, but it looked like deals might be hard to come by there. I saw drbeanz post on the Doubletree in Downers Grove and decided to give that a shot since he got it for $35 and it is close to REI and Stir Crazy.

I clicked the PRICELINE link, but I got this error.

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.anrdoezrs.net.

I tried to get through, but couldn't figure out the problem. It was late and I had to pack and get the daughter to get her stuff ready and to bed. Sorry, I didn't get to use your link, but hopefully I can figure it out before I need to get another room. Any ideas?

I tried $35 and was shot down. I closed FF and re-tried at $45 and got it. The same room through the hotel website was $159.

Details

Room Subtotal: $45.00 (USD)

Taxes and Fees: $12.84 (USD)

Total Room Cost: $57.84 (USD)

Check in was uneventful. We each got a warm cookie, chocolate/nut. The room (324) was clean and nice, although at the back of the hotel. The room had two rooms with the main bedroom in the back and a room in the front with a small hide-a-bed. There was a mid-sized refridgerator, microwave and sink in the front room. Both rooms had about a 27" tube TV. Internet was about $10 per day, newspaper free in the morning.

Took daughter to the indoor pool which was nice and looked clean. They had large towels available there. In the same area there were restrooms, showers, whirlpool and a sauna. The center of the hotel is a large atrium that was set up with tables for breakfast.

The hotel is conveniently located near I88 and I355 (both toll roads, some tolls have no humans so have change). Lots of shopping and restaurants near-by. We ate at Claim Jumper and I was not impressed. Overpriced for the food we got. Most of the food and retail is East on Butterfield Road. If you go a couple of miles Yorktown mall is on the left, if you go about 5 miles to Oakbrook Terrace there is the Oakbrook mall and the McDonalds HQ. The Stir Crazy restaurant is at the Oakbrook mall and is fantastic and not a bad value.

They say the time to Midway is 20-30 minutes, but it took us longer due to traffic. Take 355 South to 55 East to Cicero South.

Sorry I couldn't get the link to work, but I hope this review will help in some way.
