Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Long Beach Hilton

First time poster here, Hopefully I am doing it correctly. If I should post this somewhere else, let me know.

Anyway, I want to priceline a hotel stay for a 3.5* hotel in Long Beach, CA for July 3 - 6. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

HOTWIRE has a 3.5* in Long Beach for $73 that looks like the Westin, so $73 is a ceiling for your Priceline bidding.

You only have one free rebid zone for 3.5* in Long Beach, and that's Long Beach Airport zone. The other zones offered---San Pedro and Torrance/Carson---also have 3.5* hotels so you don't want to add those zones to your Long Beach bids.

I suggest trying $50 for a 3.5* in Long Beach. If rejected add Long Beach Airport zone at $55.

If no luck wait 24 hours and try $60 and $65. Then wait 24 hours again and try $70.

If you don't want to stretch this out over days you could start at $60, which will still undercut the Hotwire rate if accepted.

I took your advice and bid $50 on a 3.5*. I was rejected, then bid $55, adding the Long Beach Airport (which does not have a 3.5*).

I was accepted at $55 and got the Hilton.

Keep in mind I already had a reservation at the Hilton on the hhonors website for $149 a night. I am obviously going to cancel that reservation.
