Colfax
Welcome to BetterBidding, saionbuss. The 4.5* is a match for the U.S. Grant. The 4* has me stumped. Hilton Bayfront has been reported with those icons but the TripAdvisor stats are 3.5/5, 160+ reviews and the Hilton Bayfront only has 53 reviews. Those TA stats don't match any of the reported 4* hotels, so I'm not sure what this is.If you purchase please use this HOTWIRE link and let us know what hotel you get. Link to comment
Colfax
On further reflection this looks like a match for the Westin Gaslamp.I didn't think of it before because Westin Gaslamp has been in DT-HI zone, not Gaslamp-CC zone. But last week Hotwire revised the zone boundaries and the Westin Gaslamp is now in Gaslamp-CC zone. The U.S. Grant also switched zones. The TripAdvisor stats match Westin Gaslamp. Link to comment
saionbuss
Hi, Thanks a lot colfax. I would like to find a 4*+ hotel which is very close to the Convention Center (e.g. Hilton Bayfront, Omni, or Hilton Gaslamp Quarter). I checked the priceline forum, ppl get 4* hotel room in the area with around $70. I would pay a bit more, say $120 to hit these close hotels. Is there any way to achieve this? Thanks in advance.Saionbus Link to comment
AaronJB
No. Paying more to try and get a specific hotel will most likely lead to paying a whole lot more for the same hotel you would have gotten had you bid a whole lot less. Link to comment
GM Mike
The downtown area itself is not very large, however priceline's Downtown zone includes Harbor Island... those hotels are quite a distance. However, a $50 difference would buy quite a bit of taxi fare. Maybe it is worth risking some low bids and if you have the unfortunate luck of getting one of the farther hotels, it works out about the same with the taxi fare? Link to comment
