cheapo2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Hi, I'm looking to book 3 nights walking distance to the Moscone center from July 28-31. I'd like to spend less than $70/night excluding fees. I wouldn't mind booking the 3* USW hotel available from HOTWIRE for $56/night (boutique, Business center, high speed internet), but I'd like to know if its close to the convention center? I did a search and the only hotel I thought it could be is the King George, but I'm not sure. I'm not particular to this hotel, any USE or USW will do with HOTWIRE if its <0.8 miles or so. Booking from PRICELINE is fine too. Thanks!
thereuare Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! The 3* USW proerty is a match for the King George so that would be my best guess.Would this work for your needs? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Colfax Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 If you want the King George I just won it for $40 on Priceline a few days ago. It's a 2.5* in Priceline's USW-Nob Hill zone. You could bid and get a different hotel though.Your $70 limit is probably enough to get a hotel rated higher than 2.5*, if you want that.King George Priceline Win
cheapo2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Author Report Posted June 18, 2009 Thanks... I may try that in a pinch. However, I'd prefer a place with air conditioning. Any ideas about what areas and * level I could select to get the best deal around 70 possible near SOMA?
thereuare Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Any ideas about what areas and * level I could select to get the best deal around 70 possible near SOMA?"Best deal" differs for everyone depending upon if their focus is budget, bang for the buck, amenities, convenience, etc.Since you want to be near SOMA, are you able to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the SOMA, USE, and/or USW PRICELINE zones?Let us know which zone(s) your willing to accept and which star level you'd like to go for first and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Colfax Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 In all the Downtown zones (excluding Civic Center North, which is a long walk from Moscone) HOTWIRE only has one hotel under $70 for your dates---a 3* Boutique in USW at $59 that looks like the King George you don't want.My first suggestion is to try $70 for a 4* on PRICELINE in USE, USW, and SOMA-Moscone. The lower down the scale you bid the more likely you are to get a hotel that doesn't have A/C.
cheapo2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 Won the Grand Hyatt San Francisco for Jul28-31 for $70 a night. I booked it last week, forgot to update the thread. It was my second attempt: SOMA 4* $70, then SOMA/USE 4*$70.
