mykeyhope Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 My parents are coming into LA for opening night at the Hollywood Bowl, June 19-20. I wanted to put them up at one of the nicer hotels in Hollywood -- looks like the 4* options in Hollywood are either the Renaissance or Roosevelt, which would both fit the bill.I checked on HOTWIRE and the only 4* option -- Roosevelt I believe? -- is going for $160, so I presume either a convention that weekend or the Bowl opening night might be driving up rates for that Friday night. Ideally I'm looking to spend in the $100-120 range.Typically what kind of discount might I get via bidding on the 4* PRICELINE Hollywood hotels vs. using HOTWIRE? My initial bid of $90 was not accepted. I'm wondering if I should abandon the Hollywood idea and put them up at a nice 4* downtown instead... Hotwire is listing a 4* downtown hotel for $83
Colfax Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 The Renaissance is $239 on 6/19.If your bidding limit is $120 I would bid that high on PRICELINE, moving up in $10 increments. $120 would be half price, very good, and still $40 less than HOTWIRE's Roosevelt rate. For less $$ Hotwire has a 3* in Hollywood at $80. That looks like the Hollywood Heights Hotel. HHH is a former Holiday Inn, renovated, and it sounds like you want something a step up.The 4* Downtown for $83 looks like Westin Bonaventure. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links if you purchase.
