terpfan1980 Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Yet another location and win that looked interesting to me until I see the reviews noting the parking fees :) While it seems unavoidable, I really wish that hotels would stick with free parking and simply build those fees into the average cost of the rooms.
AaronJB Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Expensive parking is certainly not unique, as hotels are ramping up parking fees (sometimes out of choice, sometimes I believe out of the parking companies they work with increasing costs) in all major cities.

Near Washington, D.C. or points south (on the east coast), not many places charge for parking. That said, the point you and I would both be making (to some extent) is that hotels are definitely finding ways to charge for things other than the rooms. See for example the Casino/hotels in Vegas that charge for internet access, add on resort fees and other charges so that they can get more $$ back after the drop the prices on the rooms to bare bones. It's a function of the economy and where we are now really as before the economy tanked most hotels would give away amenities because people would pay higher rates and gobble up those freebies. Now people (like me :) :)) are being more frugal and we want cheaper prices so the hotels cut back on services and charge people that want those services while offering lower prices for those that can go without.
bbbb Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 Good luck finding a 4* hotel in DT SD with free parking.
Colfax Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 I think all the 3.5* and 3* in downtown San Diego charge for parking too, and even some of the 2*.Does anyone know of a hotel in downtown San Diego with free parking?
