haras Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 My husband is looking forward to his first visit to Saratoga Springs for Travers Stakes at the racetrack there. I had no idea how hard it would be to get a reasonably priced room for the dates of his stay. After bidding 20+ times going up to $100 for the Saratoga Springs area, I decided he would have to commute from Albany. We ended up getting Hotel Indio Albany-Latham for $86 per night. Albany Airport (ALB)254 Wolf Road Albany, New York 12110 518-869-9100The amenities listed are as follows: Remote Control TV with Premium Channels Telephone with Voicemail Radio Alarm Clock Iron and Ironing Board Hairdryer Business Services 24 Hour Front Desk On-Site Dining With taxes and fees, it came to $304.87The hotel's website has lowest price at $187 so I'm happy. Tripadvisor seems to have favorable reviews. Free parking and wi fi.I used your PRICELINE link for booking my stay.Anyone going to saratoga, book early!
thereuare Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 Congratulations on your success!I think part of the difficulty is due to the race (i'm not familiar with this race but since your husband is making the trip i assume it draws a crowd from 'all over' and many of these people need a place to stay) which increases hotel occupancy, as well as the fact that there just aren't many hotels in this area. So with high occupancy, and little competition, there isn't any pressing reason for hotels to offer the opaque suppliers deeply discounted rates. Can you please add a reply to this thread with the dates of his stay so we can add this information to the topic title and enable this win to appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Hope he has a good trip... and is lucky at the track! Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
haras Posted June 10, 2009 Author Report Posted June 10, 2009 His dates of stay are August 28 until august 31.
GM Mike Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 (i'm not familiar with this race but since your husband is making the trip i assume it draws a crowd from 'all over' and many of these people need a place to stay)This is the biggest race of the year at the Saratoga track. It's a pretty big deal. All the hotels in Saratoga will likely sell out. In fact, many locals rent out their houses for this weekend. Saratoga will feel like all of Westchester moved upstate for the race. :) The commute from the Indigo will be just about the easiest you can make from Albany. Easy to get onto the highway, fast driving to Saratoga. However, traffic within Saratoga will be insane and the track is several miles from the highway, so he should allow plenty of time.
