thereuare Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 ...preferably in Manhattan or Midtown EastMTE is part of Manhattan... which zones exactly are you looking for?4 star ; less than $150. per night. Not sure if this is before taxes and fees or "all-in", but either is likely going to be tough for these nites. When do you suggest I bid/book them through Hotwire. Are you only considering HOTWIRE (where there is no bidding) or PRICELINE an option too? For an overview of the similarities and differences of each see this thread: I've Never Used Priceline or HotwireI see 3 star for $133. now in MidCentral; do you think I can do better? If you'd like help identifying this property please let us know the amenities HOTWIRE associates with this property. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. AaronJB Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Additionally, there's no way to predict whether occupancy rates for your dates will rise or fall. Doing so is a gamble. If you see a rate that you believe to be a satisfactory deal on HOTWIRE, I would take it. If you wait, while rates could come down, they can also quickly go the other way (in other words, one day the HOTWIRE listing is suddenly no longer $133, but comes up as $150 and there's nothing you can do.)
mariburr Posted July 12, 2009 Author Report Posted July 12, 2009 Help Needed, 8 Rooms needed Oct. 28 - 30New to this wesbite and love reading the great deals people get through it.I've been bidding for the past few weeks for 8 rooms and still no success. Trying MTE, MTW and Times Square for 3 star and higher and up to $120. and still no takers. First time to NY and none of us are familair with subway so thought we should stick to main areas.Do you think the main problem is; I'm bidding too early? Do you think I will get rooms closer to the date?Any help would be appreciated.
thereuare Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Historically this is a busy time in NYC... besides seasonal factors, the NYC is on the first Sunday of November, and this attracts runners and specators worldwide, most of which get into the city a few days before the event, given the length of their trip.HOTWIRE does have a 3* for your dates for $165/nite with:Restaurant, Fitness, Internet, Business which is a match for the Park Central so that would be my best guess. You may be able to do a little better on PRICELINE, but given the Marathon, i'd guess you're likely going to have to go a bit higher than your current $120 maximum bid. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. mariburr Posted July 12, 2009 Author Report Posted July 12, 2009 Do you think there is any chance of getting 8 rooms at the same hotel? We are ready to book now as we have our flights but I've been bidding on 3 -4 star hotels and as high as $120. and no takers even though I see many people getting 3 and 3 1/2 star hotels for July for less. Do you think my chances will improve closer to the date? Any help or strategies would be appreciated.
dahammer Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Winning hotel bids in July should not be used for a stay in October.
