willy4x4s Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 I have always made my hotel purchases via hotwire however I do not see the Rio coming up on the listings. Will I be able to book the Rio via PRICELINE? Do I specify that I am looking for a four star hotel West of Strip? What price should I start off with? Thanks in advance! :)
dahammer Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 Please post a follow up to your Hotwire Las Vegas Trip from May and let us know whatever you did for this stay, then bump this thread and we'll comment on your upcoming stay.
thereuare Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 The Rio is a 4* hotel in the West of Strip zone, but you can't bid on a specific hotel... you can receive any hotel in the zone at the minimum star rating that you select. While the Rio is the only reported 4* hotel in this zone, there could be others that participate with PRICELINE but not yet reported to the board (The Palms is one such property which immediately comes to mind)Are you willing to accept any hotel in this zone at the 4* or higher level? If so, let us know your maximum bid for this stay and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. willy4x4s Posted May 27, 2009 Author Report Posted May 27, 2009 I am really trying to book the Rio however if the palms or another four star establishment west of the strip zone is the end result, i'd be fine with that.

willy4x4s Posted May 27, 2009 Author Report Posted May 27, 2009 On there website rooms are going for about 180.00 per night. I was hoping to get them at a 50% discount :) . So that would be about 90 bucks a night at that rate or 180 for the trip. Does 50 percent seem too much for a weekend?
thereuare Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 With no 4* hotels appearing in this zone on HOTWIRE this may be a difficult bid to win, but to give it a try:At the 4* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* West of Strip...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* West of Strip and re-bid zone 2...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. willy4x4s Posted June 6, 2009 Author Report Posted June 6, 2009 I tried once just adding 5 more dollars to your strategy and it was declined on the rebid i upped it 10 more bucks and it was declined. I am glad that it was declined because the next day I got a postcard from the hilton. I ended up booking the hilton for two nights for 120 dollars, 6 buffet tickets, two passes to the spa, two complimentary drinks, and some dining coupons.
