I will be bidding for 5/30/09 a 4*. BUT before I do, I'd like your opinion on which area would be the perfered 4* area as far as winning properties. The Loop or NMA? I'm thinking I should be able to get something 80.00 or less. Does either area have clunker? Meaning does one area have a hotel that comes up but people do not really like it?

Thank you,

Cheryl

Given that this is one night, are you looking for the least expensive (but still nice) place to sleep?

I don't think there's a "bad" 4* in the bunch in either area, although there are some average/very average ones in NMA (Sheraton - the Knickerbocker is improved after a renovation) and the Loop (Hyatt, Palmer) These "average" properties are ones that I wouldn't recommend paying full price for, but for a cheap HOTWIRE/PRICELINE rate, they are a fine place to sleep.

Additionally, what appears to be the Palmer is showing for $79 on HOTWIRE (a 4* Loop with fitness, business, internet, pool, restaurant), so I'd start low for a 4* bid for this area. I'd start at $62 (if that isn't accepted, $67)

Prices at NMA hotels are rather high for these dates; I'd recommend starting at $75 to bid for a 4*, although that may not be enough.

Please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchase.

Thanks Aaron. That was the kind of feed back I was looking for. There was some winning bids for the same date at the Hyatt for 80.00. And I did see that Palmer more than likely was the hotwire choice for 79.00. So,, I think I'll start bidding. WE do have a room the night before at Sheraton from a hotwire at 95.00 but I had 50.00 in hotbucks (think that is what they call them) so actually it is only 45.00. I don't mind changing mid stay as it gives another experience. Can you bring small Luggage on the City buses? I plan on using public parking near Grant Park and just do walking and buses. We will get the 3 day pass.

Ok, I'll report my winning results when I nail something down.

If you have $50 in hotbucks, would your budget be $130? ($130-$50)

There is a 4* Mag Mile that would appear to be the Swiss for $123.

amenities: fitness, pool, restaurant, business, internet, tennis, spa.

There should be no problem bringing luggage on the busses downtown.

Great because I have a winning bid.

Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area

*4 Palmer House

5/30/09

First bid 59.00 rejected

Second 65.00 rejected but they offered a room if I up my bid by 17.00. Nope!

Third 69.00 accepted Palmer House

Thanks again Aaron for helping me out!

ps,, on this mini trip, I'm cleaning up on rooms.

First night I have in New Buffalo MI, Fairfield Inn, winning bid 33.00, Web rate 99.95.

Then next night staying in Oak Brook IL, The Hyatt Lodge at McDonald's Campus, free using my Visa Rewards points, web rate 159.00.

Friday we are staying at the Sheraton Towers Chicago for Hotwire 95.00 - 50.00 in hotbucks= 45.00 a night, web rate 179.00.

Then this last night will be at the Palmer Hilton winning priceline 69.00, web rate 265.00. So,, doing great at this end. My total (without taxes and fees) for four nights, 147.00, web rate for the four nights was 703.00.

I think PRICELINE and HOTWIRE (and my credit card points) are awesome!!!!
