This turned out to be Staybridge Suites. Icons are different from previous reports but the TripAdvisor stats only matched Staybridge, so I got what I expected.

Shuttle

Business Center

Breakfast

Laundry

Pool

Highspeed

In prior reports the Staybridge had these plus Suite.

I bought this through the BetterBidding HOTWIRE link.

I've been checking Hotwire pretty much everyday for about one month now & did not notice any changes to the San Bruno hotels' icons. -- Just the usual 2-3 icons for the 2* and 3* hotels.

I was surprised to read your post about the Staybridge Suite listing SIX icons.

And today, I just noticed a new 2.5* hotel listing in the San Bruno, CA area... But it only shows TWO icons. :)

So I cannot determine if this (or the other two hotel listing) is Staybridge Suites or not.

I have stayed there before & would really like to stay there again for this visit.

Postscript:

This was the third time in a row that I've stayed at the Staybridge and they gave me a two-bedroom suite. All Priceline or Hotwire stays. The suites have a fully furnished kitchen, living room, and two separate bedrooms each with full bath and shower. Three desks, three phones, three TVs. The living room couch pulls out and can sleep two more. These rooms could handily accomodate a family of six.

The catch is these two-bedroom suites have all been located on the hotel's third floor (out of 3) and the hotel doesn't have an elevator. Guests who pay full price for a two-bedroom suite probably insist on a lower floor, and the third floor suites are left over as "Priceline rooms". If you don't mind climbing the stairs it's a lot of space for the money. (Of course there's no guarantee you'll get a 2-bedroom suite. Most of the hotel's rooms are 1-bedroom.)

Another nice feature of the Staybridge is that it's walking distance to the San Bruno BART station. All the airport area hotels have a shuttle that will take you to the Airport BART station and pick you up. The Staybridge is unique in that you don't need to use the hotel's shuttle. It's about a three-block walk to BART and you're downtown in 20-25 minutes. If you don't want to walk the three blocks the Staybridge shuttle will drive you to BART.

Hi Colfax...questions: Does the airport shuttle from staybridges only run every hour on the hour? I read it in one review. I'm hoping to stay at the staybridges suites in san bruno on the 27th of july for one night. It doesn't seem to show the icons if I select more than 2 ppl when checking other dates. Since you were saying that you get the 2 bedroom suites, do you think it's safe to book for a total of 2 ppl even though there's 3 of us? I'm waiting for when it becomes available for the dates I need to book for.

I really appreciate you posting and sharing the info as this is my first time to san francisco and like the walking distance to the BART as well as the shopping mall.

Shuttle schedules can change so I'd recommend calling the hotel directly for their most current shuttle schedule.

For your date I'm not seeing the Staybridge, whether I check on "2 adults" or "3 adults". The hotel being offered hasn't been identified yet.

If the Staybridge icons turn up for your date I think you'd be safe booking for "2 adults", even though there are 3 in your party---as long as 2 of the 3 could share a bed. All Staybridge rooms, including the 1-bedroom suites have a pullout couch.

The mall and restaurants across the street are another nice feature.

But if this is your first trip to SF and you're only going to be in SF one day I wonder if staying Downtown, closer to more of the attractions, wouldn't be more convenient? The San Bruno Staybridge gives a lot for the money but it's not a very central location for a first-time tourist. I guess it depends on what you're planning to do that day. Are you focussing on Staybridge because you won't have a car?

We just wanted to be close to restaurants and shops within walking distance as we won't have a car. It's really just a layover and won't have time to really explore the downtown areas and attractions.

Hotwire has changed the zone's name from "San Bruno" to "San Bruno-SFO West". This must have happened in the last day or two. The zone boundaries look the same to me.

Even after the name change San Bruno-SFO West area hotels don't appear when searching on "San Francisco", although SFO-North and SFO-South hotels do. To view san Bruno hotels you still have to search on "SFO" or "San Bruno".
