stallwns Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 I have a wedding to go to next week in Philly and will be there from 5/28 - 5/31. I would really love to stay in the hotel where the wedding is being held. Anyway to specifically bid on a specific hotel or not? The hotel where I would love to stay is the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Philadelphia and I want to submit a bid of $65 - any and all advice will be helpful. Thanks.
AaronJB Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Welcome to the site. There is no way of bidding on a specific hotel. The discounts that PRICELINE can offer are due to the fact that one has to be flexible with what hotel they end up at. If you have to be at a specific hotel, the best way to go is to book conventionally. If you are willing to accept a hotel in the same general area of the city, then PRICELINE and HOTWIRE can definitely work for you.For example:The Courtyard in question is showing for $229 per night on Orbitz.com for your dates. I see a 4* in the City Center East (which appears to be the same section the Courtyard is in) section on HOTWIRE for these dates for $119, with the amenities fitness, business, restaurant, internet. This would likely be the Westin. So, if you took that, you'd save a total of $330 over the course of 3 days, some of which can go towards the (likely) rather brief cab ride from the HOTWIRE hotel to the Courtyard. Plus, you'd be staying at a 4* for less than the Courtyard (which is a 2.5-3*)If this idea is of interest, please use the site's HOTWIRE link.If you do book regular rate, please use the site's Travelocity, Orbitz.com, Expedia or Hotels.com links.
AaronJB Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Plus, if you take the 4* instead of the Courtyard, you can brag that you are staying at a 4* for much less than what the other guests paid for the Courtyard, which is always fun. :)

dahammer Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Unfortunately, the Courtyard is not often reported as as win in this zone, but the nearby Marriott Downtown has about 1000 rooms to fill every night. The Philadelphia Downtown zone runs almost "river to river", but check the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and you'll see that someone posted a win at the 3.5* Radisson Warwick for $55 during your first day of travel; this hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the Courtyard. The Westin would be a great win as well, but at the 4* level, you could possibly end up at the Hyatt on the Delaware River, Good luck!
