mgoes Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Followed the PRICELINE link from this site:For 1 night and 1 room (thought I'd just add the extra room and night if the bid was accepted).1st bid: 5-star for $50 = rejected2nd bid: 4-star for $51 = rejectedWaited about 12 hours, then went back and bid for 2 rooms for 2 nights, 4-star for $55 = accepted for the Nh Salzburg Hotel.Dates for stay are June 4-6.I'm glad to be able to save the money in the larger cities by bidding, I'm finding the countryside to be very expensive!
thereuare Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Hope you're happy with the results and this works well for your plans.Do note that when you bid for the solo nite with the itnention of extending the stay if accepted, that you did run the risk of having to change hotels. The "add a nite" option is not always offered, and even when it is, there is no guarantee that you will be able to do so.. you could be told that there is no availability OR that rooms are only avaialble at a higher price. Glad to see it all worked out well for you for this stay, but added this to help in future biddng in case you relied upon that as a strategy.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICLINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. mgoes Posted May 20, 2009 Author Report Posted May 20, 2009 Wow, I never would have guessed that the extending stay option could end-up working that way, thank you for letting me know. Looks like having to rebid was a blessing in disguise. We leave Thursday for the trip, so lets hope that hotel in Berlin ends up being ok!
