  1. Ann Arbor Courtyard by Marriott for $40 per night for 3 nights September 3-6!!! :) I just remembered that we had bonus $ on PRICELINE from this summer's promotion and used it to make this bid (it automatically added $20 per night to my total bid price). I'm really thrilled over this one, since we like staying at this hotel when going to U Mich!!! Go Blue!!!!
  2. Just booked 2 rooms for one night (August 18, 2009) at the Sarasota Courtyard by Marriott by the airport for $56 each using the PRICELINE link from this site. It did take me about 5 times of going back and forth with bids to get it. Started at $50 zone 1 for 4-star, ended up marking 4 different zones and 3-star at $56 to get the deal. Current price for this hotel, which I have stayed at many times, is $120 per room per night.
  3. Priceline bid: 2 rooms for 2 nights at $55 per room/night at the Nh Salzburg Hotel Franz-Josef-Strasse 26 (June 4-6, 2009). The Nh was a very nice, clean and comfortable "boutique" style hotel. The rooms were really stylish, modern and super comfortable. The restaurant was ok, but very pricey. I only ate breakfast there once. There are, however, lots of different places to eat not too far from the hotel...although not all are open late at night or on Sunday. They were also out of parking in the hotel garage, so we had to park in a city garage they have an agreement with that was a few blocks away. While the hotel is not far from some shopping and cafes, it's still not in the heart of where most of what you will want to do is located. We left the car parked in the garage and just walked to the old city to spend the day. When we needed a break, we took the boat tour or relaxed in one of the cafes. One good tip if you stay at the Nh. There's a small grocery on the corner about a block from the hotel. They had many of the souvenir chocolates, etc. you find in the shops in the old city, but a lot cheaper. Another tip, get the Salzburg Card for free entrance to museums, boat ride, etc.
  4. Wow, I never would have guessed that the extending stay option could end-up working that way, thank you for letting me know. Looks like having to rebid was a blessing in disguise. We leave Thursday for the trip, so lets hope that hotel in Berlin ends up being ok!
  5. Followed the PRICELINE link from this site: For 1 night and 1 room (thought I'd just add the extra room and night if the bid was accepted). 1st bid: 5-star for $50 = rejected 2nd bid: 4-star for $51 = rejected Waited about 12 hours, then went back and bid for 2 rooms for 2 nights, 4-star for $55 = accepted for the Nh Salzburg Hotel. Dates for stay are June 4-6. I'm glad to be able to save the money in the larger cities by bidding, I'm finding the countryside to be very expensive!
  6. Date of the stay will be May 30, 2009 for 1 night.
  7. After reading the previous posts, this is what I did: 1st bid - 2 rooms @ $40 each, 4 star Frankfurt Airport and South on Priceline (used the PRICELINE link from this site) = rejected 2nd bid - 2 rooms@ $42 each, 4 star Frankfurt Airport and South + West = ACCEPTED Glad to not have to spend much, after blowing the budget on a castle stay the night before!
  8. Will do! Now I'm trying to figure out Prague and rental cars. I'll use your links! And post my results once I get my courage up to try bidding.
  9. Thank you. I will use the link for future bookings. Just getting started with this upcoming trip! Hopefully the hotel will be better than the reviews I read, but I was looking on the maps and found there really is no easily accessible public transit...something I thought would not be a problem in Berlin.
  10. After seeing that some people were getting a couple of the hotels where I was interested in staying, I thought I'll take the plunge and try Priceline again. I've had both good and bad luck with hotel bidding in the past, but I wanted to save $... Here's my result: First try: 5 star in Tiergarten - Kufuerstendamm for $60, fail. 2nd try: 5 star adding East for $65, fail. 3rd try: Added 4 star for $68, awarded Maritim Hotel Berlin. Checked the prices through the hotel online and it was going for $172 a night. Dates: Berlin May 22-25, 2 rooms I'm happy with the price, but very unsure about the hotel. That's my only worry that it is far from everything despite being in the Tiergarten - Kufuerstendamm area. Also hotel reviews say that it's a conventioneer hotel that is busy and overcrowded...and in an area you can't get to public transportation from...really doesn't sound like a real 4 star to me. Is there anyway to dispute the star rating of a hotel with Priceline. When I was looking before bidding on their site, I saw nothing of this place and didn't expect them to consider a 4 star as that sort of quality.
