Hotwire Hotel: 4* Toronto (Downtown West) Sheraton

I am looking for a one night hotel stay for Friday, August 14th in Toronto. We are seeing a concert at Massey Hall and would like to be within easy walking distance (my hubby has a bad knee). I am not sure what area of Toronto I should be looking for, I assume it is downtown (but is it East or West I want), as I suspect both covers a wide area? It is for 2 adults. Any help appreciated.

If you go to BackUpBooking and enter "Massey Hall" you will see the location on a map along with all the hotels nearby. You can then also compare the location to the boundaries on HOTWIRE's East/West zones to determine which, or both, you'd like to consider. However, HOTWIRE's zones are more long than they are wide, so the two zones may be fairly similar, with North/South being the issue of getting closer rather than East/West.

I compared it to the hotels that would be acceptable as far as the hotel itself and its location with the Hotwire list of hotels won, and you are correct in that the zones are different and it looks to me that there are hotels in both zones that I would be happy with. I have listed those that would be great for us.

The TO East zone

3. Marriott TO Downtown Eaton Centre

The TO West zone

1. Sheraton Centre TO

2. Hilton

3. Intercontinental on Front

Thanks so much for any suggestions/ strategies you may have. I also am willing to bid on Priceline but suspect I can not narrow my zone the way I can with Hotwire.

It's more imporant to know the hotels you won't accept than the ones that you will (you don't need to list them here)... if there are hotels in the zone that you aren't willing to accept then you can't/shouldn't bid that zone on PRICELINE.

If you're willing to accept a little risk you can use HOTWIRE if you're able to reasonably guess at the hotel you are likely to receive. If you search HOTWIRE for your dates are there any hotels within your budget? If so, let us know the star rating, zone, price, and amenities associated with each and we'll try to help you identify them.

The 4* EAST property is a match for the Delta Chelsea (which is 4* rated as per HOTWIRE) so that would be our best guess.

The 4* WEST amenities are quite common for a downtown city hotel, but the Renaissance and the Sheraton have both been reproted with this amenity combination, so either of these would be our best guess for that one.

EDIT to ADD: if you change your search from 2adults/0chldren to 2adults/1child the WEST property with the amenities above also then shows a Tripadvisor rating of 4.0/5.0 with 540+ reviews, which would be consistent with the Sheraton (which you should doublecheck, but if i recall correctly, would be close to the location you wanted to be near) If this is the case, i would buy it for 2adults/1child and the TA info showing, as the 'other' property could be a diffnerent one (i'd guess it's the same, but might as well buy the one which gives increased confidence)

Thank you Thereuare! The Sheraton was our first choice as we have stayed there before and love the hotel and the area.

I used your wonderful advice about changing the search to 2 adults 1 child and the 4/5 TA rating with 540+ reviews showed up.

Thanks, Aaron. We will for sure. :) We are seeing John Prine! We saw him in London 3 years ago, best concert ever. He played for 3 hours straight, did not take a single break. His band took a break for about 1/2 hour but he played solo during that time. He is an incredible singer, songwriter, storyteller all around performer! Top that off with a stay at the Sheraton (perfect location and as you said a hotel we are familiar with) and better bidding just helped make a great evening even better. Thanks so much!! :)
