Priceline Hotel: 3* Portland (Northwest) Silver Cloud Inn

Here's a new hotel for the Hotel List. Actually I've won the Silver Cloud on Priceline a couple other times but those were several years ago, before I was posting on BetterBidding.

The Silver Cloud was $119 on Expedia. Hotwire had a 3* in their NW Portland-Goose Hollow zone for $87 that also looked like the Silver Cloud.

I probably could have won a hotel in the Downtown zone for less than $60, but parking, internet, and breakfast are free at the Silver Cloud, while all the Downtown hotels charge for at least one of the above, and several charge for all three. The Silver Cloud turns out cheaper in the end. Money aside, I like the Silver Cloud's Northwest Portland location and the large comfortable rooms.

On 5/10 I tried Add a Night for 5/11 and got a counteroffer of $77. I was surprised that Add a Night wasn't accepted at $60 because Silver Cloud had the same $119 rate both nights, and the same $87 Hotwire rate.

Instead of taking the counteroffer I tried conventional bidding. $60 was rejected and $65 accepted.
