vered4 Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 :) I just booked the WESTIN in Times Square which is listed as a 4.5* for $146 for Sept. 23 and 24. When I first searched, this hotel came up as $168 - Best Value. On second try - it came up as $146.Interesting twist: When I searched with 1 adult & 2 children - this hotel and many others came up! When I searched with the default of 2 adults 0 children - totally different hotels came up! I never tried it with children before....I wonder why there is a difference?? Any comments on this?I'm thrilled with the WESTIN - it is very new, very contemporary, and the lowest internet price for the same room is $289. This was the cheapest hotel room on Hotwire for NYC for my dates!!

lew Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 THEREUARE OP said he got different hotels when he added children to the hotwire search screen. You previously indicated Hotwire only shows the lowest priced hotel in the zone/star level. Could this be a way to look at additional hotels since it seems to allow you to exclude the hotels that are only offering a PL room, double bed with no room for a rollaway?
thereuare Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 It's too new of a feature to know for certain, but i believe it can be used to our advantage and have said so in the original thread on this subject: HOTWIRE HOTELS MORE THAN TWO PEOPLE:...it may be possible to change the hotel offerings which appear for a given set of dates by changing the number of guests.I still believe Hotwire will show the lowest price hotel that meet the user's parameters... but in this instance changing the number of people (ie- the parameters) could include/exclude specific properties, thus changing the offerings. This could get interesting! <in a good way> Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
lew Posted September 21, 2004 Report Posted September 21, 2004 I didn't see your original post on the subject, why don't you delete my post, your reply and this post since it's not really on topic.I wonder if adding 2 kids to the request. would eliminate the Hilton since they tend to put PL customers in the small rooms with 1 bed.
