My wife and I just booked our airline tickets to San Fran and will be arriving July 23rd and leaving July 26th..

I've used this site before for strategies for awesome hotels in Chicago and Vegas and here is what I tried and failed with today.

4* $55 USE

4* $60 Added Fishermans Wharf

4* $65 Added Civic

4* $75 Added South SF

I'll regroup and try again tomorrow, any strategies I should try?

We are looking to stay somehwere centralized and the 2 4* in USE look like they would do the trick..

We want to spend < $100 a night for the best hotel we can get.

Thanks,

Mike

Just to confirm, do realize that the two USE properties in the are the only ones reported to the board and you could be the first to report a new 4* hotel in this zone to the borad.

Is $100 your "all-in" maximum price or your maximum bid price? (if the former, what is your maximum bid price)

HOTWIRE does have a 4* offering in the USE zone for $100 (best guess is the Palace Hotel which gets pretty good reviews) as well as a 4.5* offering for $120 (best guess is the Inter-Continental which gets also gets great reviews) if either of these are of interest.

Lastly, at the 4* level you actually have FOUR re-bid zones avaialble, but you only used three... not sure if you stopped because you didn't want to bid higher at the moment OR if you only thought there were three. Feel free to ask for help and/or confirm your fourth re-bid zone with the board if you're unsure.

Let us know your maximum bid price and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

We'd like to stay at or under $300 for all three nights combined if possible.

:) Doh, missed that.

I'll use the links, like I mentioned before, I have used this site to get really nice deals on great hotel rooms before, I appriciate this resource.

So, before I saw this I tried again this morning.. I read more about SOMA area and would be equally happy there or USE for that price..

Here was my bidding this morning.

$65 SOMA

$70 Add USE

$75 Add Fishermans Wharf

$80 Add Civic

$83 Add South SF

$83 w/fee's etc brings the total to $298

I will check out your links and go from there, thanks for the help

I looked here and it looked like there were only 3 rebid zones that didnt have 4*'s in SF Priceline Hotel List

But there is an option on PRICELINE, Marina, is this the 4th?

If you look at the top of the hotel list you'll see the following:

DO NOT USE THIS LIST to determine what areas to add when attempting to bid again within the 72 24 hour window (CLICK HERE for information on how to add cities in order to bid again).

The correct way to determine your re-bid zones is discussed in this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained

However, "yes", Marina-Lombard Street us currently your fourth re-bid zones... BUT you should doublecheck these before your bid (using the technique discussed in the link above) to make sure that nothing has changed since you last checked (since new hotels are added and/or ugpraded all the time). As well, if you trust automation, you can use this site: Re-Bidding.com to quickly doublecheck your re-bid zones.

Given your recent rejections for both zones you're willing to accept, is your gameplan to 'wait it out' at this point and hope for lower inventory to be released as you get closer to your dates?

Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your bidding.

Thanks for the info.
It's still early for July dates. If you don't want the Palace for $100 on HOTWIRE now I would keep bidding to your $83 limit on PRICELINE once a week or so.
Yeah, I think that is what I am going to do.

Thanks guys

Just a follow up on this.

I ended up including USW and we booked Hotel Nikko for $80 a night.

The stay at the Nikko was nice, but the extras are pretty expensive. Parking was only offered by valet and at $45 a night, we walked up the road and parked for $29 a night. (we renten a car to take outside of town and drove US 1 and went to Sonoma etc..)

When we signed in, we were told that the priceline rooms are a little smaller with a queen sized bed, they were previously reserved for airline staff, and for $20 a night we could be upgraded to a larger room with a King Sized bed, we took that up and still feel at $100 a night we got a great deal for this hotel!

Thanks Better Bidding!
