calmuse Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 Hi. I'm a newbie. I'm unsure whether this question belongs in Priceline Tips or the Illinois Topics forum.I've used Priceline in the past with some success, but encountered some trouble with bidding on a Chicago hotel room today.I placed four very low bids since I am on a limited budget and hope to snag a decent simple room in a safe, El-accessible area for four nights, April 29 to May 2, checkout May 3. No bid was successful, owing to my poor strategy. Rather than upping the dollar amount of my bid, I added Mag Mile/River North to my original Lincoln Park search, and then proceeded to go down as low as a one-star rating (I started at 3), hoping to at least score the HoJos on N. LaSalle, but no luck. When I tried to place a significantly higher fifth bid by adding Loop-Millennium-Grant Park, Priceline did not allow to upgrade my minimum acceptable star rating back to 2 or 2 1/2. There's no way I would feel safe in bidding on only a one-star place in the Loop vicinity (or anywhere besides the two areas I originally searched). Because I'll be using public transit and taxis, I can only consider Lincoln Park, RiverNorth/Mag Mile, and the Loop-Millennium Park. Priceline's Chicago geographic search areas could easily strand me out in suburban Timbuktu west of O'Hare. The question is, If I wait 24 hours before placing another bid, will Priceline allow me to adjust the star rating back up to at least 2? Or am I stuck with the 1-star acceptability on all future bids?
powerplantop Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 If you wait you can go up in start rating.
