Priceline Hotel: Cooperstown, NY

Is there any experience with Priceline or HotWire in Cooperstown, NY. I'm looking to stay there for one night from 8/26/09 to 8/27/09. The one option listed on HotWire is a 2.5-star hotel with Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Laundry and High-Speed for $207/night, which seems kind of high.

your may want to use the Search function in the upper right corner of the BetterBidding page, enter "Coopeprstown" and the select New York from the pull down menu and you will see all topics that contain that term. Or, you can just search for Cooperestown in the title and you can narrow down wiinning bids for this area.

Hotels use both HOTWIRE and PRICELINE to sell off room inventory that would otherwise go vacant, so there may be an event going on at the Hall of Fame, Brewery Omegang, or the Dreams Basesball Park that is increasing occupancy. I would recommend that you book a cancellable back up reservation using the Travel/Support Links on the board. Then you can monitor HOTWIRE rates occasionally to see if there is any movement.

There's very few hotels in this area, and I'm guessing the hotel in question on HOTWIRE is the Holiday Inn Express Cooperstown.

However, I wouldn't use HOTWIRE for this purchase, as the retail price I'm seeing for this hotel on this date is $212 - not exactly much of a discount. I have to imagine something's going on at the Hall of Fame.

There's cheaper options nearby for these dates - there's a Red Carpet Inn on Expedia for $99. There's a couple of other nearby options for around $125, too.
