WillTravel
I found a deal for 45 Euros per night for a single room (probably including breakfast, but I'm not sure) at the 3* Tulip Inn Roma Globus for my Rome stay in January - http://www.goldentulip.com . However, a significant drawback, which is sufficient to make me not take this offer, is that the location is just a little far from the center, although the transport options are reasonable. Note, though, that this hotel does fall within Priceline's Central Rome zone. So it would be easy to do worse by bidding on Priceline in this instance if you are a solo traveler. Also, the price for this offer doubles if you want a double room - it's 90 Euros in that case. Priceline does work with Golden Tulip in other cities but I've never seen this particular hotel come up yet. In general, Priceline does not seem like a good deal for Rome at least at the lower levels. The 2* hotel, Hotel Galileo, that has been reported has horrible reviews. At least one of the 3* hotels also has horrible reviews. The Vatican zone also seems quite large, and the North and West zones would be very inconvenient. Link to comment
