Hi Everyone, new member here.

I am about to bid on Priceline for a 3* Oakland-Eastbay (Pleasanton-San Ramon) hotel. I am really hoping that it is the San Ramon Marriot. (I have a seminar there) I have seen a few other winning bids with this hotel on this board, but am worried that i might get stuck in another city. One other bidder listed it as a 3.5* hotel back in November 2008.

does anyone know if the San Ramon Marriot is the only 3* Oakland-Eastbay (Pleasanton-San Ramon) hotel, or is there a chance i am going to get stuck elsewhere?

thanks for being patient with my newbie question.

There are about a dozen 3* hotels in the San Ramon - Pleasanton zone so chances are very good that you will get something other than the Marriott in San Ramon.

Having said that, it's hard to go wrong with a 3* in this zone and if you have a car you will not be will be far from San Ramon.

There are currently no 3.5* hotels in this zone but always check before you bid.

Welcome to the board Scrambo! (Great ID!)

Priceline seems to change the star ratings constantly since this past fall, so it's become difficult to "predict" potential wins based on past wins. What are the dates of your trip? I have been fortunate that when I bid for San Ramon, I would get a San Ramon hotel, and not one in Pleasanton or Livermore. I am interested in what member "BEAV" might have to say about this post and area, Beav has a lot of knowledge about this area.

The downfall of San Ramon Marriott is the parking, they charge and it's a bit of a walk to the hotel. Not sure if they still charge for internet, but I was able to pick up wireless when I had a room on the 3rd floor at n/c. If you happen to get Marriott Courtyard or Residence Inn - they are both within approximately 1 mile from the SR Marriott, locally referred to as "The Big Marriott". The upside to San Ramon, they don't seem to have low end hotels or bad neighborhoods. :)

I'm confused, as usual.

In post #4 you said you won the Marriott San Ramon on first bid of $42.

In post #5 you said you won the Courtyard in Pleasanton on first bid of $42.

Did you make two separate bids for the same day and win two different hotels?
