ANFHOCKEY10 Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 I got a winning bid for $90 from May 22-25. This is not even the Westin Gaslamp. I haven't seen anyone getting a winning bid for Westin San Diego and just wanted to know if this I got a good deal for this? The westin website has the room for $139/night. Thanks in advance
AaronJB Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Congrats on your success and welcome to the site.Thank you for posting your win - I think this is a good deal, although I'm surprised that a property like this has not been reported as a PRICELINE win previously. Can you confirm the address on this property? Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start future purchases. Thank you.Enjoy your stay.
ANFHOCKEY10 Posted April 14, 2009 Author Report Posted April 14, 2009 The westin I will be staying at is on 400 West Broadway, San Diego, CA...again if anyone have stayed here and booked on priceline please let me know how much you have gotten it for? Thanks
Colfax Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 This used to be the Wyndham Emerald Plaza. It was a Priceline 3* when it was Wyndham. You're the first one to report winning the hotel here since it was rebranded, ANFHOCKEY10.
Danni0005 Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 There is no way this is a 4* property. It does not even compare to the other 4*'s in the area!!!
Colfax Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Have you stayed at the hotel since it became a Westin, Danni0005?I haven't stayed there but the TripAdvisor reviews are mostly positive (4 out of 5).
ANFHOCKEY10 Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 There is no way this is a 4* property. It does not even compare to the other 4*'s in the area!!!What do you mean there's no way that Westin San Diego is a 4* after the takeover? Even on Travelocity it states that the hotel is a 4* hotel. Please explain
travelAlot Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 Based on reviews (ie tripadvisor.com), I would say you have nothing to worry about. Westin does its due diligence for its properties, especially when upgrading from a lesser hotel to a Westin. I just succeeded on a bit (got a different hotel) but narrowed down my likely hotels to 4 including the one I received and the Westin -- and woulda been thrilled to get it. The other really good thing is that it's central to downtown, ie Horton Plaza, Gaslamp, harbor and public transit/Trolley (bus goes there for $2 from airport every 15 mins); the other PL dt SD sister Starwood property, Sheraton Marina, is nice (as long as you get the right tower) but isolated ($28 parking and $10 cab ride to downtown) so you did quite well (TOBB shows someone who got the Sheraton for a few $$/night more than you paid even). Enjoy your stay and bargain booking. Job well done!
