Didn't want to go up to $70 to get the Crowne Plaza in Clark. Saving $20/night here with a quality variation. Have had good experiences with Country Inn & Suites in California. No charge for staple services (parking, internet) is a big plus and their breakfast is a nice add-on. If you are a bit adventurous, and it sounds like you have a car, try the Spanish Tavern for dinner, located in the Ironbound section of Newark. Its reasonable for a white tablecloth restaurant and you can see the menu online. This restaurant operated a free shuttle weekdays, but I did not see it offered on the website, so you may want to call and see if this service is still available.
