KarenC Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 I tried priceline for a hotel in San Diego (Downtown San Diego/Harbor Island), 2 1/2 star hotel for $50. Rejected. So, I bidded $60 for a two star hotel. Rejected. What am I doing wrong? Am I bidding too early? My trip isn't for another month. I checked other users on here and they have 2 1/2 star hotels for $40.Karen
WillTravel Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 These two articles might help explain it:http://www.sandiego.org/press_rel_detail.a...hText=&RelType=http://www.thesandiegochannel.com/travelge...457/detail.htmlIn short, with those types of occupancy figures, it will be hard to get a centrally located cheap deal on Priceline. Would you consider other zones or raising your price? What is available on Hotwire for your dates? (What are your dates?)
KarenC Posted September 10, 2004 Author Report Posted September 10, 2004 My dates are Oct 8-11th. I already increased my bid to $60. Rejected.
WillTravel Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Have you tried the Old Town zone? I found that general area quite convenient.
KarenC Posted September 10, 2004 Author Report Posted September 10, 2004 no, i have not. is that anywhere close to the downtown/harbor area?
WillTravel Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 It's reasonably close. Will you be renting a car when there? We took the bus a few times and took a cab a couple times, and had no problem. The trams in the Old Town area also go straight into downtown. I also enjoyed seeing the Old Town historical area. It's probably best to look at a map and see if you're comfortable with the location. However, I personally think the Old Town area is preferable without a car to the Downtown/Harbor Island area, because of the high odds of getting a hotel near the airport. If you have a car, either area would be fine.
