Liset Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 $95 per night$248.85 total w/taxes and feesAmenitiesNon-smokingRestaurantPoolFitnessHi-Speed internetBusinessHad been bidding on PRICELINE unsucessfully up to $130 for a 4* in Copley or Quincy Market and up to $120 at Logan. Knowing this would be the Sheraton or Hilton, I decided to grab it when it popped on on HOTWIRE. Might have done a little better on PRICELINE, but I prefer to pay a bit more to avoid a particular PRICELINE 3.5 in this zone. With the Sheraton listing the room at $249/night, I'm delighted with the savings! As always, used this site's HOTWIRE link.
AaronJB Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 Congratulations on your success! :)Thank you for sharing your results with the board. Glad you were able to get a hotel that appeals to you (and avoid the one that doesn't) and certainly do so at a terrific price. Out of curiosity, which 3.5* were you trying to avoid on PRICELINE?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE link, as wellHave a great trip.

Liset Posted April 11, 2009 Author Report Posted April 11, 2009 First off, it's terribly unfair of me to have a negative view of a hotel I've never stayed at, but I was trying to avoid the Boston Park Plaza. It's due in part to the mixed reviews it receives, but the funny thing is that I tend to prefer the charm and uniqueness of older, historic hotels that others review negatively. I think it's location has a great deal to do with my feelings. I was disappointed a while back when PRICELINE expanded the Copley Zone to include the theater district. To me they are very different. When I want to be at Copley Square I want to actually be at Copley! I bid for a single night stay on 6/8 and actually wouldn't have been disappointed to win the Park Plaza. I might have found my perceptions were wrong, and I would have another 3.5* zone I would bid on for my frequent Boston trips.I certainly wouldn't want anyone to think I'm advising staying away from bidding for a 3.5* in Copley. Copley is the preferred zone for many and many rave about the Park Plaza. It's not a hotel or zone to avoid, it's just one I avoid based on (biased) personal preferences. I favor Quincy Market-Financial District, and often stay at Logan because it meets my transportation needs, is generally less $$, and I've had consistently good experiences at both the Hilton and Hyatt.Just my $.02
