Hotwire Hotel: Hotwire- Worth Waiting?

Hi, am looking to book rooms in NYC and Philly for myself and my young daughters in mid June.

NYC- 6/21- 6/23 and Philly 6/23/ 6/27.

We normally use Hotwire but my pesky kids are obsessed with the Embassy Suites (free popcorn and chocolate pancakes for breakfast have turned their heads I fear). At the moment I can't see the Embassy Suites in either city as coming up. Is there any way to elicit how late in the day certain chains put rooms on Hotwire. We have booked Embassy Suites in other cities thru Hotwire around 8 weeks in advance before.

Many thanks!

Welcome to the site.

There is no way to "wait out" or otherwise get a particular property to show up on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Hotels don't have to put inventory on HOTWIRE at all, especially if it's a busy set of dates.

HOTWIRE and PRICELINE are not good ways to get suite properties in NYC; while the ES does appear at times, the other, similar properties (Doubletree Suites, the Residence Inn/s) are rarely seen as wins (I'm not sure if the Residence has ever appeared as a win)

I think a main issue in this case is the fact that the ES in NYC is in the downtown area, which isn't exactly centrally located.

If you are willing to consider other properties, please let us know budget per night.

Many thanks- I agree that Hotwire is not the best way to get an exact match, especially on Suite hotels but I am kind of addicted to Hotwire now! We managed last year in three separate trips to get great hotels mainly suites, because of this site so I hope to stick it out or at least get a similar hotel. Kids are bribable with either pool or breakfast buffet. Only criteria really!

Budget for NYC- Max $160 per night.

Thanks again.

the Embassy Suites in Philadelphia has been reported on the HOTWIRE hotel list Pennsylvania, the hotel was formerly an apartment building built "in the round", so rooms are pie shaped and quite large. You can always use $$ to bribe the kiddies, tell them you will split the savings from a HOTWIRE booking compared to paying rack rates ($150 ++) at the Embassy Suites. Too bad your trip is not in May, the Cezanne exhibit at the Philadelphia Musuem of Art has been extended until May 31.
