PeterEL Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 Hey Guys,My Girlfriend and I want to spend 5 nights in NY during our USA Trip in September of 2009. The last days were very disappointing because all biddings on priceline are refused. We are both students and our limit is about 100$ incl. all taxes for a hotel room per night. The zones we tried are all except 1 and 6.We started with 4* Hotels and thaught that if the red bar (saying that there is only a small or no chance for the bid) disappears we have good chances to win the biding.Today we are arrived at the 2,5* hotels and 85$(with taxes about 100$) and there is still no success. Can Anybody please help us finding a Hotel? Our demands are not as high as yours . We only need a room for 2 persons. It should be clean and central.Thank you for your attention :) and best wishes from GermanyKatja and Peter
Bob Loblaw Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 I am going to NYC on the way back from a Philly trip at the end of the month but I am looking at staying in Jersey city....cheaper and an easy train ride into the city.
AaronJB Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 Welcome to the site. Unfortunately, while it's understandable that you are on a budget and don't mind a lesser property as long as it's clean and central, you are running into two issues.1. You're bidding too early.2. Fall in NYC can be pretty busy, and if traffic is more than expected at NYC hotels during these dates, $100 may not be enough for these dates - especially if there is a convention going on.Personally, I wouldn't get discouraged - I would wait a week and try again. If you can extend your budget up to $100 per night, that may help. Please use the site's PRICELINE link to start bidding.
AaronJB Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 You could stay in Jersey City, but I think that's something to consider if it gets to later in July and you're still not getting accepted in NYC.
