scubarobbie Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 I have started to use Priceline in the last we months (and won some excellent deals in London and Amsterdam). Now I'm thinking about using Priceline for a 2-week stay in Las Vegas (end of june/beginning July). What would be the best strategy?- just go for the full 2 weeks in a single bid?- break it up in a few pieces and bid on the individuel pieces (with the risk of having to change hotels of course)?I will bid on a 5* hotel on the south strip. There is only one hotel that would apply (Mandalay Bay), so maybe this info helps.Who has any suggestions?

scubarobbie Posted April 7, 2009 Author Report Posted April 7, 2009 It depends upon rates during your stay... what are the actual dates of your trip? What do you mean? Only bid on the nights that are most expensive? I'm planning on arriving on june 28th for 13 nights.
dahammer Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 What do you mean? Only bid on the nights that are most expensive? I'm planning on arriving on june 28th for 13 nights.Las Vegas hotels use demand management software to increase rates during periods of high occupancy, such as large conventions, and lower rates when it has more room inventory. The days of having the same room rate for all days are gone along with the telephone switchboard, the Holidex room reservation system, and the Sweda cash register for manually posting room and tax. What thereuare wants you to do is to look at rates across your 13 day holiday and report back what you find.PS, it would be great if you could also post your excellent winning bids in London and Amsterdam as more data points makes this board more relevant and helps others craft successful bids.

mtsublueraider Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 I can tell you from my experience on the upcoming trip I have during those dates that they sure are putting a premium rate on July 4th weekend... so keep that in mind. Maybe stay on the strip during the week and venture out for the weekends?
