Hi there

I got a question regarding bidding for the SFO Airport area.

Last night, I got a $45 3* Staybridge Suites.

This morning(before 11am), i applied for the one night extension but it said it could not be completed.

So I tried to bid for a 4* or 5* but they are all greyed out now and the only option is 2* and 1*.

Is this how it works?

I thought I should be able to at least bid for a 4* or 5*?

Thanks!

Thanks for the date, HawaiiO. That will get your stay into the Priceline Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.

When you attempted Add a Night on your 3* reservation Priceline considered that as if you'd bid for a 3*, and the 24 hour lockout kicked into effect.

You can't bid the same parameters for a 4* or 3.5* immediately after you've bid for 3*. You need to change some parameter or wait 24 hours.

You could have bid for a 4* or 3.5* if you'd added a free rebid zone to your 4* bid. Adding a zone is considered a change of parameter.

The Staybridge is available tonight, 4/4, at $139. It looks like this hotel might not allow same day reservations on Priceline.

Where did you end up staying?

Thanks for the info.

Ended up staying at the travelodge in millbrae.

That wasnt thru PRICELINE or HOTWIRE though.

Another question, do hotels allow our stays to be added to their frequent customer program?

I was told by the hotel we dont qualify if we use priceline.

Thanks

On further reflection it's not true that Staybridge doesn't allow same day Priceline reservations, as it sounds like you booked your 4/3 stay on the same day. Maybe Staybridge just didn't allot rooms to Priceline on 4/4, even though they had rooms available. Or maybe Staybridge allows same day Priceline reservations via conventional bidding but not via Add a Night.

Each hotel chain sets their own policy on crediting points/stays for Priceline customers who are also enrolled in the chain's loyalty program. Staybridge is an Intercontinental brand and Priority Club members don't earn points for Priceline or Hotwire stays. I'm pretty sure you earn points for incidentals purchased during your stay though....restaurants, movies, etc. InterContinental's Terms of Service will be the authoritative guide to their policies.

Occasionally someone here reports getting points credited for a Priceline or Hotwire stay. When that happens it's usually the result of a mistake on the part of hotel personnel or they just don't want to argue with you. Be happy if you get points but don't expect them.

It's still worth showing your Priority Club card on Priceline stays though. It sometimes results in a better room, even if no points. I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway via Priceline a few times and showing my Priority Club card gets me a room on the side with the better views.
