echo168 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 We are 4 adults and are looking for a suite in Niagara Falls June 19 (Friday).3.5* hotel in Niagara Falls, On - $109Amenities: Casino, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Golf nearbyI can only find one 3.5* hotel in Niagara Falls, and that is the Embassy Suites Hotel. Would it be safe to say that this is the property? Thanks.
yellowdog Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Is this stay just for one night? I did a search and can't get the same hotel to appear. You have two open London threads. Please post an update if you have made any progress on that stay.YellowDog.
echo168 Posted April 3, 2009 Author Report Posted April 3, 2009 We are planning for a one night stay ONLY - for the time being.Oh, forgot to mention that I did a 1 room 2 adults search and the 3.5* Niagara Hotel$109 showed up.I'll post an update on my London hotel serach.
thereuare Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 The Crowne Plaza has previously been reported with this amenity combination and has recently been upgraded to the 3.5* level so that would be my best guess. HOWEVER, do note that the vacation package product is currently showing different amenities for the Crowne Plaza than the above, so this casts a shadow of doubt over this ID, but some hotels do use different icons between the hotel product and the vacation product, so this would still be my best guess, but can't be as confident as i'd like. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. echo168 Posted April 3, 2009 Author Report Posted April 3, 2009 We will be 2 or 4 people. If I could be sure I'm getting a suite, then I'll go with Hotwire for this 3.5* hotel, which is actually pricier than their 4*.So now I think I'll probably use Pricline to bid for one 4* Niagara Hotel room. Hotwire's price is $97. Any idea what this might be?Expedia has Hilton at $115, Doubletree at $119, and Doubletree Suite at $151. What do you recommend the highest I should bid to to make it worthwhile? Thanks, and I'll remember to use this site's PRICELINE link if I do decide to bid.
thereuare Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 We will be 2 or 4 people. If I could be sure I'm getting a suite, then I'll go with Hotwire for this 3.5* hotel, which is actually pricier than their 4*.Why would you think you would be getting a suite? :)So now I think I'll probably use Pricline to bid for one 4* Niagara Hotel room.PRICELINE only guarnatees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel. If you end up being quad occupancy, how will you handle the situation if you're only able to get a room with one bed? Is this a risk you're willing to accept? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. echo168 Posted April 4, 2009 Author Report Posted April 4, 2009 I thought the Hotwire's 3.5* was very likely Embassy Suites and I would be getting a suite if I purchase that. Now that there's a doubt, I wouldn't bother .I would bid one room if I go Priceline and if the other couple decides to join, they would have to get separate room. If I could get a good price on Priceline, it works out almost the same as purchasing a suite from Doubletree or Embassy.
AaronJB Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 If you're seeing prices around $115-119, I'd start at $60 on PRICELINE; if that isn't accepted, $65 24 hours later, $70 24 hours after if $65 doesn't go, etc. I can't imagine you will have to go much higher than that unless there just isn't PRICELINE inventory for some reason.
echo168 Posted April 5, 2009 Author Report Posted April 5, 2009 I used the PRICELINE link and started bidding at $60 for a 4* 6/19 stay. Taking advantage of the different zones, I bid $65, $68, $70, $72, $74., and no luck. HOTWIRE price for a 4* hotel room for that date is $100. Doubletree suite is $153. If I bid any higher, I might as well reserve a suite (price of 2 rooms) in the event there are 4 of us, and know exactly what I get.If Hotwire has a 4* room for $100, does it mean there is no shortage of inventory? Maybe I should wait a few days and try again and hope price might come down.
thereuare Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 Have you identified the 4* property on HOTWIRE? Both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE use their own criteria for rating hotels (with HOTWIRE be a bit more 'generous' in their ratings) so there is no assurance that the 4* you're seeing on HOTWIRE is also rated 4* on PRICELINE... so you may not be comparing apples-to-apples.You're smart to consider the cost if you'll be quad occupancy vs. the Doubletree Suites, but if you purchase that property (not sure if it's non-refundable or not) and end up only being double occupancy, it will certainly be much more than it would have cost for one room via PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. As well, even if this property is a 'true' suite with a separate room, all the bedding accomodations would likely be in the same room (unless the second 'bed' is a pullout sofabed) so while it would provide additional space, you still lose a bit of privacy at nite, as well as only have one bathroom which can make getting ready in the morning a bit more complicated. When will the other couple decide if they're going or not? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. echo168 Posted April 10, 2009 Author Report Posted April 10, 2009 So I was not successful on my Priceline bid up to $74 for a 4* Niagara Falls hotel June 19, when Hotwire's rate then was $100. Today Hotwire has its 4* at $82; amenities: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Interne Access. Could you please help ID this hotel? I guess I can try a lower bid on Pricline again!!!
dahammer Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 These amenities match those of the Hilton Niagara Falls Fallsview, Sheraton Fallsview, and RenaissancePlease use the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links if you proceed.
