scudz Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Hi,I'm pretty new to this, only did it once before for NYC, and was wondering for some bidding advice for london2 nights, 8th May-10th mayWould prefer 4*, 5* is a bonus.Any area around hyde park so zones 1,4, 6 or 74 and 6 have 5*.Many thanks,
thereuare Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Can you please follow-up your Priceline NYC thread with an update or whatever you ended up booking for that stay... then bump this thread and we'll have a look at the above. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. scudz Posted March 31, 2009 Author Report Posted March 31, 2009 Ended up not booking NYC due to finance.Would be great to get a hotel around $60-80 for 4*.. willing to go about $140 for 5*.thanks
Romelle Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 I got curious. HOTWIRE is showing 4*s in Docklands for $83 and The City for $94 for your dates. And a 5* in Mayfair-Soho for $152. Amazing rates. And one usually can do a bit better via Priceline....... Made me want to plan a trip....Don't miss the HOTWIRE link at the top of this page if you do decide to take a peek at the possibilities there. Of course Hotwire can sometimes be a little more generous with it's ratings than PRICELINE. Romelle
thereuare Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Are you interested in the HOTWIRE properties Romelle highlighted above OR do you want to give PRICELINE a try?If you want to move forward with PRICELINE let us know the zones you're willing to bid by priceline name (in case they add/remove zones or change the order, it makes it clearer and avoids confusion) as well as if you'd like to bid up to your limit for a 5* hotel and then if rejected lower to a 4* OR if your ultimate goal is the least expensive 4* or better for this stay. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. scudz Posted March 31, 2009 Author Report Posted March 31, 2009 The 4* hotels are just too far out the way, but the 5* price seems ok.I'd really like to try priceline for the cheapest 4* before going for the 5*.Zones,Bloomsbury - Marble ArchKensington - Earls Court - KnightsbridgeMayfair - SohoNotting Hill - BayswaterIn that order for preference. Many thanks for the replies:)Chris
thereuare Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Zones,Bloomsbury - Marble ArchKensington - Earls Court - KnightsbridgeMayfair - SohoNotting Hill - BayswaterIn that order for preference. To confirm, is zone more important than price? If so, you want to try up to your maximum bid in the Bloomsbury zone before trying the next zone on the list, so-on, and so-on OR are you really interested in the least expensive 4* or better property in any of the four zones you've listed? Please clarify and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. scudz Posted April 1, 2009 Author Report Posted April 1, 2009 i think the best strategy would be to bid the from the lowest to a medium bid on each.. zone by zone... eg if $80 was an average for the top zone... do something like?$60,65? bloomsbusry$60,65 next zone etc etc to the 4th zone, then go70,75 bloomssbury?etc next zone, to the 4th.I think this would be best to get a good deal. Thanks for the great help so far. I look forward to bidding. Just need the help for starting bids and best strategy. :)Chris
thereuare Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 At the 4* level in London you don't have any re-bid zones, so you'll only get one bid at each zone before you need to change or add zones. Using your $80 maximum bid mentioned above i would try as follows:Select 4* Bloomsbury...Bid $50, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Kensington...Bid $50, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Mayfair...Bid $50, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Notting Hill...Bid $50, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Bloomsbury and Kensington...Bid $55, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Mayfair and Notting Hill...Bid $55, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Bloomsbury and Notting Hill...Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Mayfair and Kensington...Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Bloomsbury and Mayfair...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Kensington and Notting Hill...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Bloomsbury and Kensington and Mayfair...Bid $70, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Bloomsbury and Kensington and Notting Hill...Bid $70, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Bloomsbury and Mayfair and Notting Hill...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Bloomsbury and Mayfair and Kensington...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Bloomsbury and Mayfair and Notting Hill and Kensington...Bid $80Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
