travelin' tigger Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 This was my second try for this date: First bid $33 for 3*Second free rebid for 2.5* was $29Third free rebid was 2* for $25All rejected. This is only my second attempt with Priceline. First was 1.5 years ago and won the Dolphin for $70. I was thinking in 72 hours I'll try for 3* again at $34 and continue working my way up $1 every 72 hours since my booking isn't until 12/12. Really would like a 3*, but $39 is really the highest I can go since it's not a primetime holiday weekend, but still fairly new to this. What do you think? TIABarb

travelin' tigger Posted August 19, 2004 Author Report Posted August 19, 2004 Thanks SO MUCH for your help. I was able to go as high as $36 for a 3*, but will try again in 3 days as I don't want to go any higher than that unless I absolutely have to. I've seen others get 3* MCO for $33 and there's nothing big going on so I'll just keep plugging away every few days.Unless there's something I don't know????
lew Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Early this year I had to go as high as $45 to get Sheraton Suites. I just got back, it looks like the Crowne Plaza by the airport got hit pretty bad. It's possible the airport rates may be a little higher.
booglas Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 Yesterday I entered a $30. bid for a 3 star MCO area hotel for 12/24. It was rejected but I could rebid immediatley if I was willing to increase by $8. So I landed up with the Marriott Orlando Airport for $38. Rooms are going for this date for $89-$119 on the non-bidding booking sites as well as Marriott's, so I am very happy. This falls within your $39. limit.
travelin' tigger Posted September 2, 2004 Author Report Posted September 2, 2004 Started trying at $33 over the past few weeks and ended up winning with $50 ($63.50 total). This was on Hotwire also (Cust. Fav.) for $61 ($73 total). Thanks for everyone's guidance and encouragement!!! :)
