Gallus50 Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Ok, I think I jumped the gun on this one a little early. I think I should have lowballed longer. The Club Quarters is a bit substandard as a 3.5* hotel, but I forgot it was on the list of potentials. Bidding history was approximately: 4* USW, CC, FW, Marina, SSF - $70, 75, 80, 85, 884* USE, CC, FW, Marina, SSF - $70, 75, 80, 85, 884* FD/EMB, CC, FW, Marina, SSF - $70, 75, 80, 85, 884* USW, USE, FD/EMB, CC, FW, Marina, SSF - $903.5* USW, CC, Marina, SSF - $60, 65, 70, 75, 783.5* USE, CC, Marina, SSF - $60, 65, 70, 75, 783.5* FD/EMB, CC, Marina, SSF - $60, 65, 70, 75, 783.5* USW, USE, FD/EMB, CC, Marina, SSF - $79 Accepted. I know I didn't pay too much, because I had only increased my bid by $1 before acceptance. But my brain was already moving towards all the cool, boutique-y 3* hotels I was going to score for a low ball bid of like $60 or something. Nonetheless, I did get a good deal, as most websites are advertising room rates of about $214 for this time period. I think I will just very politely mention that I am a repeat customer and the last time I stayed there, I felt a bit claustrophobic in my little room and could I please, pretty please, have a little bigger one...?
thereuare Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Sorry to hear this wasn't what you expected, but at least you did get a very nice deal.Hopefully they'll honor your request for a 'good' room assignment, but i think most Club Quarters offer basic accomodations with small-ish rooms... but they generally are clean and well kept.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICLINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. Colfax Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Ok, I think I jumped the gun on this one a little early. I think I should have lowballed longer. When you bid this in March, Gallus50, I thought the same--"too high too soon". I don't think that anymore.Club Quarters is sold out for your dates now and other hotel rates are through the roof. Hotwire doesn't have anything higher than 2.5* in any Downtown zone and that 2.5* (in USW) is $203!In retrospect you didn't jump the gun after all.
Gallus50 Posted September 17, 2009 Author Report Posted September 17, 2009 Thanks, Colfax. Positive reinforcement is always welcomed. (I do have a bit of a habit of second guessing myself. Sometimes it's bad, in this case, the news is good!)
Colfax Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Quit second guessing and start packing! :)
