Chnou Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Hi,I'm just wondering: in the "Calendar of Wins" someone won the Benjamin for the week of 4/27 at 111$ with Priceline. Now, on Priceline, the Benjamin is advertised at 345$ for this period. Is it realy possible that they give 65% discount on that???Thanks a lot for your help!
blagga Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Having just been through this, yes, it really is possible. See my Benjamin Hotel NYC post earlier. Good luck!
jxv Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 The winning bid of $111 is not for April dates but for January dates, if you click on that link you will see it. I don't know why that appeared in April.
thereuare Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 The date of that thread was in the wrong format, this has been fixed and that thread should no longer appear for dates other than the actual dates of that stay. Chnou Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 Hi,I was wondering: I have seen on the calendar of wins that for one particular day, two different hotels, from the same bid-zone, had been won at different prices (in this case MTE: The Barclay @ 115$ and The Benjamin @ 136$ on 4/27).Now, let say I want to stay at the Benjamin: By bidding 140$, will I end up at this one, or is there a big chance I still end up at the Barclay (and obviously paying 25$ more than needed...)Thanks a lot for your help on this matter.Best regards,Ronald
AaronJB Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 There's a big chance of the latter - paying more than needed for the Barclay. Please use the site's PRICELINE link to start your bidding.
dahammer Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Now, let say I want to stay at the Benjamin: By bidding 140$, will I end up at this one, or is there a big chance I still end up at the Barclay (and obviously paying 25$ more than needed...)Priceline encourages its participating hotels to load multiple price points to maximize revenue, so its unwise to increase your bid for a specific hotel. In addition, since each hotel's room inventory changes daily because of new bookings and cancellations, prices that were accepted weeks or months ago may not be accepted (or may be higher) than bids submitted now.
Chnou Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 Hi,Started at 100$ MTE....RefusedAdded Long Island at 105$...RefusedAdded Brooklyn at 110$....RefusedAdded Chelsea at 115$...Accepted.Of course, I used the PRICELINE link...I have already found my reservation on the Hyatt Website and apparently I received an Executive Room...I have no idea if this is better than normal ones. Chnou Posted March 26, 2009 Author Report Posted March 26, 2009 Hi,As we are heading to NY as part of our Honeymoon, I was looking to contact the hotel directly by email to see if they could arrange us some special things...Would someone of you guys have an email address of the sales/marketing/reservation department of the Grand Hyatt? Thanks in advance,Ronald
thereuare Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 If you call central reservations they should be able to give you whatever email contact info you need. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Chnou Posted April 1, 2009 Author Report Posted April 1, 2009 Hi,Thanks for the info. I sent an email with the request. We'll see if I get an upgrade...Something different now (I'm not sure I have to post it here, but I don't know where else, and it's still related to my trip): We want to go to a musical/play.What is the best in town for the moment? (I know it's kind of subjective, but I really would like your opinion.). We have already seen mamma mia and the lion king. Thanks a lot !CheersRonald
AaronJB Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 I'm not sure regarding musicals, but I'd also consider calling Hyatt's reservation line to discuss with them. Given that this is a HOTWIRE reservation, they may not be able to grant any major requests, I've always found Hyatt's phone customer service to be pretty nice.
