Not sure exactly how it happened. I started my bid at $46, then bid $47 and $50. On my$50 bid the screen said to wait an unusal message appeared on my waiting screen...can't remember what it said but it wasn't the usual waiting screen. Then it said I won with a $67 bid. I never entered $67 into the bidding field so I hit the back button in my browser just to check. It said I couldn't bid because the transaction was already processed, but it also said that my $50 bid was rejected and that I could add another $5 without changing anything. Bummer deal is that I never say that screen. Moral of the story is that I may have been able to get the same hotel for $55. Oh well, I'm happy with $67.

Since I didn't see the "mystery screen" you're talking about I can't be sure but it sounds like you got a $17 counteroffer to your $50 bid, and that somehow, perhaps accidentally, you accepted the counteroffer.

PRICELINE will usually accept less than their counteroffer, so you might have won this for a little less, but probably not much. A few dollars.
