Sercho Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Hi, I will be staying at LA from 03/28 - 03/30. This will be my first time and I like to be in a good & safe place to go out by night. As I will be with a car my expectation is to pay no more than $ 80 / 85 by night with parking included (3* would be ideal). Is Beverly Hills-West Hollywood the best zone according to my needs? Do you have any other recommendation? I've seen that I might have good chances with Best Western Carlyle, Residence Inn BH or Courtyard By Marriott. Any other zone I may choose? Thank you!Of course I will be using: PRICELINE
Colfax Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Is Beverly Hills-West Hollywood the best zone according to my needs?Probably so, yes.Budget $25/night or so for parking at a 3* in Beverly Hills-West Hollywood zone. You might win a hotel where it's less but you want to plan for worst case. With an $85 limit, parking included, that means a top bid of $60, which might or might not be enough. When bidding for a 3* in LA you only have one free rebid zone, which is Lawndale. Lawndale only has hotels less than 3* quality.I suggest bidding $55 for a 3* in Beverly Hills-West Hollywood. If rejected add Lawndale at $60.Thanks in advance for using the PRICELINE link. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Sercho Posted March 14, 2009 Author Report Posted March 14, 2009 Well, finally I confirm to you that I have to raise the offer since I wanted to be in Beberlly Hills area. First strategy according to yor suggestion:Beberlly hills (3*) $55 -> rejected+ Free zone (Lawndale) $60-> rejectedThe I try a access again PRICELINE and made a new offer for $ 60 - 2.5* since my expectation was Best Western Carlyle, they offer to add $ 17, so I prefered to wait.Third try in PRICELINE Beberlly Hills (3*) $65 -> rejected+ Add 2,5* $68 -> rejected+ 2* $70 -> Yes!! I've got Courtyard By Marriott Los Angeles Century (3*). I think is a very good deal, parking cost is $15Summary: Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $70.00Subtotal: $140.00Taxes & Service Fees: $28.12Total Charges*: $168.12Once again...THANK YOU !!!!! Your're really great.
Colfax Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I'm glad that worked out, Sercho, and thanks for the good word! The Courtyard Century City is $144 these nights so you got it for less than half-price.Fortunately your 2* bid was upgraded to 3*. You were lucky because the way you bid you might have won a 2* hotel for $70. If you were doing this again I'd suggest the following, to avoid the risk of winning a 2*:$65 for 3*. Add Lawndale at $70.Then close your browser, reaccess Priceline through the BetterBidding PRICELINE link and start over.$65 for 2.5*. Add Lawndale at $70.Closing your browser and starting a new bid for 2.5* would have allowed you to use Lawndale as a free rebid once again. It all worked out for the best though. I mention this to help you in your future bidding. Enjoy your stay!
