Ripley Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 I wanted to report an incident I had during my stay at the Portland Airport Sheraton. I booked the room through HOTWIRE for a Feb 28th stay. Amenities: Amenities: Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business. Prior to booking through Hotwire I called them and asked about parking during my four day trip. I was told that if I self-parked, and didn't use the valet service that there would be no charge. When I checked into the room the clerk commented that I had the "Hotwire" rate and asked if I would be parking a car. When I told I would she said there was a $50 charge for Hotwire rate customers. When I told her about my telephone conversation she said that if I had booked through them, rather than Hotwire the charge would only be $20, but again since I used Hotwire the charge was $50. This was my first experience with using Hotwire and consequently I doubt I will use it again. I have never had this problem when using Priceline. Be forewarned.
thereuare Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! Can you please add the price you paid as a reply to this thread so we can add this information to the topic title. This sounds more like a hotel issue than a HOTWIRE issue... you were told by the hotel that they don't charge for parking, but upon showing up you're told that even if you booked thrum them, there would be a $20 charge, so obviously it's the hotel that is giving 'bad' info OR changing their policy. As well, did you ask what the charge would have been if you had booked thru PRICELINE?This hotel does offer a Park N Fly rate so it would seem to make sense that they do in fact charge some type of fee for leaving your car there while away on your trip.If you do want to pursue this i would contact HOTWIRE since you're supposed to be "treated like every other customer", which imo, includes the same price for extra services. If the hotel charges hotel-direct customers $20 to park their care while on a trip, that is the rate you should be willing to pay as well, imo. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Ripley Posted March 13, 2009 Author Report Posted March 13, 2009 I paid $68 for the night there. Thanks
Colfax Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Guest parking at the Sheraton is free however you book the hotel, but only for the nights you're staying there.I think you received bad info in your initial call when someone said you could park four extra days for free. Park and Fly costs extra, however you book the hotel. But the Sheraton should charge the same extra day rate whether you're there via conventional booking, HOTWIRE, or PRICELINE.Like thereuare says, your issue is with Sheraton, not HOTWIRE.
