Colfax Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding, coyote01.The Renaissance and Roosevelt are the two reported 4* hotels in Hollywood. For your dates Hotwire isn't offering any 4* options in Hollywood now; just 3*, 2.5, and 2*. It's not an issue of one night being sold out because both hotels have availability all four nights. The Renaissance is $239 and Roosevelt is $199, $239, $239, $199.Since your trip is still more than two weeks off you have some time to check Hotwire daily and see if some 4* availability appears.Or you could try bidding to $100 on Priceline. But Priceline only guarantees double occupancy, which could be a room with one bed. Renaissance and Roosevelt charge the same price for one bed or two, and I think it's likely either hotel would be able to accomodate your party of three, especially since your child is six. But understand that a second bed isn't guaranteed on Priceline.Your other options would include 1) booking a Hollywood 4* conventionally, 2) trying for a 3* in Hollywood, or 3) booking a 4* in the adjacent Beverly Hills-West Hollywood zone, where there are more hotels than in Hollywood. Please use these HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links for your purchases. Let us know if we can be of further help.
Colfax Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 Expedia has a deal at the Roosevelt for your dates: Book 3 nights and the 4th night is free. That makes an average rate of $169.25/night. The deal includes a $50 prepaid MasterCard debit card, effectively bringing the nightly rate down to $146.75.BUT that price is explicitly for one-bed rooms only. A two-bed room is $184.25, or $171.75 after the $50 debit card. This contradicts what I wrote in the previous post, that Roosevelt charges the same for one bed or two. More accurately then, the Roosevelt has some room types that cost the same for one bed or two, and other room types and/or promotions that charge additional for the second bed.
Colfax Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 effectively bringing the nightly rate down to $146.75.Make that $156.75, not $146.75.I shouldn't try arithmetic before I've finished my coffee.
coyote01 Posted February 26, 2009 Author Report Posted February 26, 2009 Hi Colfax.many thanks for your advice, I think I will check HOTWIRE daily and see if a 4* comes up,if not I will try for a 4* in beverly Hills-west hollywood area.I will let you know how I get on.
Colfax Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 The Roosevelt is available on HOTWIRE every night from now thru March 9. I don't find the Roosevelt on Hotwire for any dates after March 9, including random dates in April and May.I supsect the Roosevelt loads a span of dates all at once and they haven't loaded beyond March 9 for now. Or maybe they're taking a break from HOTWIRE participation after March 9? If the Hollywood Renaissance appeals to you and you're willing to chance one bed you could try bidding up to about $100 or $110 for a Hollywood 4* on PRICELINE. The Renaissance only shows up on Priceline. It's never been reported won on Hotwire.
