ksupp1815 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Looking for advice on how to find basic, clean, safe hotels in Manhattan for myself and my son (15) for Spring Break tourist trip.Just need two beds and a private shower/toilet.... decent location would be nice too !budget around $ 90/day for 5 daysksupp1815 from Indianapolis IN
AaronJB Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 I don't know if you're going to get much lower than $90, but I think you will probably be able to get something nice (3*-3.5*) for that range on these dates.I would recommend starting off at $75 for a 3.5* in either the MTE, MTW, Times Square/Theatre District or Central Park South areas. If $75 isn't accepted, try $80 24 hours later.I would not recommend the Downtown area, as it's too far out of the way from a tourist perspective and you can more than likely get something in Midtown in your price range. Please use the site's PRICELINE link to start your bidding, and definitely let us know if you have any questions.
ksupp1815 Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 Thanks Very Much ! I will definetely use PRICELINE next to target these deals !!
AaronJB Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Happy to help. Hope bidding goes well; let us know how it goes.
ksupp1815 Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 AaronJB: Thanks Again !Can you advise on airfare as well ? can I use PRICELINE ?My hope is to leave Indy on Sat, March 28th 2009 (late AM) and arrive NYC same day -- then return home on Thurs, April 2nd 2009 (leave NYC late)Any tips ???THANKS AGAIN
AaronJB Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 One thought:If you are not set on NYC, Chicago may be a closer, somewhat cheaper alternative. You can take the train from Indy to Chicago rather than having to fly. That said, you can use PRICELINE to bid on airfare from Indy to NYC, but keep in mind that you do not have control over departure times if you do so.
my3kids Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 You are not guaranteed a specific range of time when you bid on airfare. You could lose a good part of your trip with a late flight to NY and an early one home.
thereuare Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Just need two beds...Keep in mind that PRICELINE doesn't guarantee a room with two bed, and in NYC where space is at a premium, and rooms notoriously small, you could get a room with only one bed... would this be acceptable for your needs? (if not there are other option, but we'll start with this aspect as it will likely determine what options are available to you)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
