Hi,

This is my first post and I need some help. My son has to go to Childrens Hospital LA (on Sunset Blvd off the 101) on Thursday of this week. We need to stay overnight tomorrow (2/18) for one night. Since my husband has to stay home with our other son I need a safe hotel in the area.

From what I can see, it looks like if I bid Priceline I should bid Hollywood or Beverly Hills as it is on the border of both of those locations. I would like a hotel for about $100/night or less but safety is my biggest issue since I know the area (near the hospital) isn't ideal. So I will pay more if needed. I prefer a 4*....but will take a 3 or 3 1/2 ...

Any tips before I bid (through Better Bidding with the link of course)....

Thank you so much.

You probably know the area better than i do, but it would seem to be that this location is clearly in the Hollywood zone, and if you needed another zone to add, the Downtown zone would be a good second choice (and hotels are often relatively inexpensive here too!) as it's relatively small geographically and just South of the Hollyood zone... whereas the Beverly Hills zone can extend fairly far west which it appears might take you somewhat further from the hospital then you originally intended.

I don't know anything about the specific neighborhood, so not sure if you want to bid Hollywood first for proximity sake, or the Downtown zone first (if you've confirmed the above) in order to be close but hopefully a better area, or if Beverly Hills actually works out best for you.... or if you wanted to start wit some combination of these three zones.

Either the Hollywood or Downtown zone would work. I'm trying to do this in the next hour or so due to my time limitations (I just found out about this trip today!).

I will use the links and start bidding with Priceline in those zones. If I get rejected, I"ll head over to Hotwire.

(And of course, I'll use the links!!)

Thanks for the help

In Downtown LA the real bargain hotel now is the Marriott, when available. That's rated 3.5* though, not the 4* that you wanted. If the Downtown Marriott is acceptable to you then I'd suggest bidding $65 for a 3.5* Downtown. That's a little higher than I'd recommend if you had more time to play with bidding strategies. At thereuare mentioned The Marriott is closer to Children's Hospital than some of the hotels in Beverly Hills-West Hollywood zone would be.

HOTWIRE has a 4* in Hollywood for $109. You could try beating that on PRICELINE by bidding $95 or $100 for a 4* in Hollywood.

Wishing your son a speedy recovery.

Read both this post and my next one as each has a different strategy depending upon whether you wanted to try for a 3.5* or a 4* first.

At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones... only TWO re-bid zones at the 3.5* level.

Select 4* Downtown and Hollywood...

Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* Downtown and Hollywood and re-bid zone4...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $100

If the above is rejected and you then want to try for 3.5*, close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

(NOTE: re-bid zone1 below will not necessarily be the same re-bid zone1 that you used above, etc)

Select 3.5* Downtown...

Bid $65, if rjeected add re-bid zone...

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $75, if rejected close browser and user our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3.5* Hollywood...

Bid $65, if rjeected add re-bid zone...

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $75, if rejected close browser and user our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3.5* Downtown and Hollywood...

Bid $80, if rjeected add re-bid zone...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90

Thank you to both of you for your wonderful help. Colfax...you were right on the Marriott. I bid $65 right off on priceline (using the link provided) and it was accepted. It's only about 8 miles from the hospital so it's perfect. Thanks for the help and good wishes for my son. (And the peace of mind that I'm in a safe hotel in a good area!!)

Take care.
