nick5
We stayed there before. Older property but a Grand Dame in her time. Right on the River. They will shuttle to anywhere downtown. We went to a show at the Joe Louis and they let us off right at the door and all we had to do was give them a call and they picked us back up. NO fighting traffic. The food in the downstairs pub was good. Yes, it is off the beaten path,, but they seem to be keeping it up. Our room was very clean. Wayne Newton was staying there the same night we were, so we had a chance to see him. They do charge you for parking,, no matter if you park yourself or not. We just left our car, and took the shuttle to the casino the next day also. Cheryl Link to comment

chaz58
The hotel seemed nice enough, and the people there were friendly. No real amenities in the hotel, and the Hotwire room was small. Some of the rooms facing the river were much nicer and bigger, but the hotel wouldn Link to comment
Knocturnal
I recently stayed at the Doubletree Fort Shelby and would recommend it over Omni just based on location alone. I found the hotel to be very spacious and quite nice. I was a little disappointed with the check-in condition of the hotel room (dusting was needed as well as a few hair strands found on both a bed pillow and a chair. But overall, very impressed. Finn and Porter is a great restaurant, even though I actually had my meal at the Roundbar. The warm, soft chocolate chip cookie couldn't have been beat when initially checking-in at the hotel lobby. The elevators were fast, the staff seemed upbeat and positive, and two close people mover stations made getting around easy....although most everything I did was on foot. I parked my car for free on 2nd St, and walked a block over to the hotel. They too, offer a shuttle as well. Link to comment
