sr3733 Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Thanks very much for this wonderful forum. We're interested in staying in Los Angeles/Pasadena area on 2/28 for one night only. I'm looking at rooms on HOTWIRE for 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids) and I'm seeing a rate of $108 for a 4* hotel with the following amenities: no smoking, fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, high speed internet. Although these are the same amenities listed for the Westin, the Westin is usually only listed on Hotwire as a 3.5* hotel. Therefore, I'm thinking that one of two things is possible: 1) the Westin is being considered 4 stars now instead of 3.5 stars or 2) the only other "higher end" hotel than the Westin that I know of in Pasadena is the Langham/Huntington hotel, which used to be a Ritz Carlton property and is very nice, and perhaps is now being offered on Hotwire. I don't see this hotel listed in your Better Bidding forum info, so I am unsure. Please let me know if there's a way to make a better guess about which hotel this is. If I book it, it will be through this forum's HOTWIRE links, and I'll be sure to let you know!Thank you very much in advance!
thereuare Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 This property shows a Tripadvisor rating of 4.0/5.0 and 100+ reviews... unfortunately this information matches both the Westin and the Langham, so there is no telling if this is a new star rating for the Westin or the not yet reported Langham. For the HOTWIRE price offered, would either be a bad deal? Would both work for your needs? If not the above, what Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. sr3733 Posted February 8, 2009 Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 Thanks very much for trying to figure it out for me. You're right - either one would work for us, so I'll probably just book it and see what it is. I'll be sure to let you know and will, of course, book through the HOTWIRE links here. I have to coordinate with another family member who will also be trying to book at the same hotel. Thanks again!
Colfax Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 I have to coordinate with another family member who will also be trying to book at the same hotel. If you purchase two rooms at the same time you and your relatives are guaranteed to get the same hotel. If you purchase them separately, in two transactions, you and your relatives could get different hotels, the price could change in between purchases, or the hotel could disappear altogether after you purchase the first room.If you buy this we'll be interested to hear which hotel it turns out to be.
thereuare Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 I have to coordinate with another family member who will also be trying to book at the same hotel. If you're trying to stay in the same hotel it's highly recommended you make one purchase for two rooms... even if you both see the same hotel on your HOTWIRE searches it's possible you receive different properties (if there are two hotels with the same amenity combination) OR if there is only one room available, the one of you who clicks first receives the htoel and the other receives an error message that the offering is no longer available. The chances of the above are low probabilities, so it's not likely to happen, but it does occur, and in my opinion it's just an unneccessary risk that doesn't need to be taken. Thanks for using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase (and please ask you family member to use our links as well)Good luck and let us know how it goes. sr3733 Posted February 8, 2009 Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 Thanks for that tip. Okay, great, we'll be sure to buy them together. The reason I won't be doing it today is that I need to coordinate w/the other family members, and they're out of town right now. We'll keep an eye on HOTWIRE and will book a room within the week and will be sure to let you know how it turns out. Thanks again!
