aurodoc Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 I am planning a trip to LA in MayI need 2 rooms for 4 peopleWhen I select 1 room I get a rate of 115 for 4* downtown LAWhen I choose 2 rooms then this rate does not come up.I would hate to buy one room and try again and not get the second room.Any way around this?
thereuare Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! It would be risky to purchase only one room and then hope that the same property re-appears for your to make a second purchase. What are the actual dates of your stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Colfax Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 This is curious.Checking May 16-18 for "1 room, 2 adults" I get a 4* in Downtown LAX for $119 with these icons:Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, HighspeedChecking the same dates for "2 rooms, 4 adults" I get a 4* with the same icons but the price jumps to $149!Probing a little deeper these are not the same 4* hotel, even though the icons are identical. The first hotel (1 room/2 adults) has a 4.5/5 TripAdvisor rating and appears to be a match for the Omni. The second hotel (2 rooms/4 adults) has a 3.0 TripAdvisor rating and looks like the Westin Bonaventure. The best theory I can come up with is that the Omni is only selling single rooms. Since Omni gets better reviews than Westin and it's $30 less per room there's some temptation to buy two single Omni rooms separately. There's some small risk though that the hotel might change in between your two purchases. If you decide to purchase either hotel please use this HOTWIRE link and let us know what you get.
thereuare Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 When searching for 1 rooms i see the property you're refering too, but when searching for 2 rooms the price changes to $149 and the hotel has the same amenities, BUT NOTE that this is likely a different hotel... the first hotel shows different Tripadvisor rating vs. the hotel on the second search. The first hotel may only be offering one room to HOTWIRE... or a second room is priced higher so that averaging the two rates this property is no longer the lowest one offered for these dates.Sometimes there are ways around this by using different date and occupancy combinations but i wasn't able to do so for your dates above. Is this the only zone in the area you're willing to consider? Whas there a paritcular hotel you're looking for? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. aurodoc Posted January 28, 2009 Author Report Posted January 28, 2009 Thanks for the info. You are correct these are 2 different hotels. I would rather stay at the Omni. The other option is staying in Pasadena. I have stayed at the Hilton but not real impressed. I think the 93 dollar rate for 2 rooms would be the Sheraton. I have stayed at the Westin and it is very nice but has not come up on my inquiry. It is long enough a head that I hopefully will keep checking and get 2 rooms for the right price.
aurodoc Posted January 30, 2009 Author Report Posted January 30, 2009 After a mishap with PRICELINE I was able to get the OMNI downtown for 94/night May 16 for 2 nights and 2 rooms.
