sech20 Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 I am looking to book a hotel in San Francisco USE for September 6-9 2009 for. Here is what I found on hotwire for a 4* at $109/ night:Location:Union Square East Star rating: 4*Check In Date:Sun, Sep 6, 2009 Check-out Date:Wed, Sep 9, 2009 Amenities:Fitness CenterRestaurant(s) Business CenterHigh-speed Internet Access Spa ServicesWould you be able to identify? Is it too early to be looking for rooms? I know it is Labor Day weekend so I would expect that rates will only increase as it gets closer. Also I am open to hotwire or priceline - any suggestions on how to procede?
slick_gd Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 This one looks to be a match to the Westin St. Francis. The amenities also match the Palace Hotel, but the tripadvisor traveler review rating of 3.5/5 based on 560+ reviews matches the Westin. That would be my best guess. There is no consensus on whether it is better to bid early or wait until later. The rates can change on any number of factors. The main point, however, is don't book unless your plans are 100% confirmed. There is no cancellation with HOTWIRE.Rifle through this topic if you have some time to get a little more information and reasoning Should I Bid Early or Close to ArrivalIf you do plan on reserving, help support this site by using this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result.
thereuare Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 The Palace has also been seen with a Pool icon in the past, so not likely that one. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Colfax Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Is there a big convention those days? Rates are high with many 4* over $250. The Palace is $285 and Westin St Francis is $389! If this $109 turns out to be either of them that's a good deal.Priceline usually beats Hotwire on price. If the Westin is $109 on Hotwire you might win a Priceline 4* for less than that, maybe $85-100? There are only two 4* hotels in Priceline's USE zone; the Westin St Francis and Grand Hyatt. If you'd be happy at either of those then I'd try PRICELINE. If you prefer the Westin then HOTWIRE.
