maxsa Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Goo dayIf anyone could please help me to identify 2* USEAmenities: Boutique, NO Smoking, Business center High Speed InternetThe dates are 4/26-4/30Thank youMaxim
thereuare Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Do you need to be in this specific zone? This 2* above in the USE zone is $79 while there is a 4* in the adjacent USW zone for just a little more at $102/nite... seems like a very insignificant amount to go from a 2* to a 4*.I do see the TA rating of this at 4.0/5.0, but so is the 4* in the USW zone.Your thoughts? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Colfax Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 This could be the Baldwin Hotel, which is a smokefree boutique hotel in USE, near Chinatown, and the TripAdvisor stats are a match. There are a couple other possibilities, but the Baldwin seems like the best match overall. You can book these dates at the Baldwin for $74.06 on Orbitz though. If this turns out to be the Baldwin then $79 on Hotwire isn't any kind of deal.As thereuare mentions it's possible that $79, or slightly more, will be enough for a 4* or 3.5* in one of the Downtown zones on Priceline, (but maybe not the USE zone). If $79 is your limit and you can't get a Priceline 4*/3.5*/3* for under $79 then I think I'd book one of the better liked budget hotels conventionally, so that you know what you're getting. Opaque 2* hotels can be risky, and at $79 this one is both risky and not a bargain.Do you specifically want to be in USE or are other areas of Downtown also acceptable?
maxsa Posted January 29, 2009 Author Report Posted January 29, 2009 Thank you all for all the answersI am not limited to THAT specific area but the diff between this and 4* on USW is siginificant for meI prefer a centrallly located hotelThank you again for your efforts
Colfax Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 I am not limited to THAT specific area but the diff between this and 4* on USW is siginificant for meA few questions:1) If you could get a hotel rated higher than 2* for $79 or less would you prefer that over the Hotwire 2*? Or are you specifically wanting a lower rated hotel?2) Is a room with one bed acceptable? If you need two beds then HOTWIRE (or booking something conventionally) will work better for you than PRICELINE.3) When you look at Priceline's San Francisco zone map which Priceline zones do you consider "centrally located"? Most visitors will accept any of USE, USW, SOMA-Moscone, or Embarcadero zones (and possibly Civic Center) as "central", but I don't know if that's true for you. With those answers someone can probably make more specific suggestions for your stay.
