let me start by saying that i wish wish wish wish i knew about this site before i handed over my money to PRICELINE. i could have learned a lot here. its a shame.

anyway i bid on a 5 star north strip $99 i got trump. i was so upset bc its not really on the strip, it doesnt have a casino, and def not the place a single 33 year old male should be staying on a biz trip.

i found it cheaper $79 on about 5 different travel sites so i called priceline and they matched it.

i cried, pleaded and begged for my money back bc i really feel that trump should NOT be included as a "Strip" hotel. they didnt budge.

i went nuts when i found out there is a $17 a day "Resort fee" again priceline wont budge. they have covered every angle in their terms that although it is very misleading by both Trump and Priceline - they do have language to offset any arguement you may pose.

i am very upset considering booking a cheap room at the monte carlo or something. i figure if i am going to be dropping another $17 a night - i may throw in another $30 or $40 so i can be on the strip and in a casino.

no offense, but i dont feel like staying at condos - no matter how nice they are.

i am told the bar at the trump closes at midnight!!!!!!!! for real!!!!!

are they are single younger people out there that have statyed at trump? how dead is it?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Sorry to hear you're disappointed in the results of your purchase. While not what you were expecting nor wanted, the Trump is within the boundaries of the North Strip and the potential for resort fees are mentioned in PRICELINE's terms (although most here disagree with the "resort fee" policy as a whole, not just for PRICELINE / HOTWIRE reservations... my own take is that any mandatory fees should be included in the room rate as it really is just a way for the hotel to appear to be more competitively priced than it actually is).

On a positive light the hotel is reported to be quite nice, it's not that far from the strip so you should be able to walk to some high-end hotels (Venetian, Wynn, etc) for the nightlife you're seeking (also at the Mirage, Treasure Island, etc)... or you're a bit closer to the bars at the Rio and/or Palms if that's what you're seeking.

At least this helped you find BetterBidding and you'll be in a better position if/when you decide to use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE in the future :)

thanks for the optimistic approach :)

i do feel like a baby, because i know i did get a GREAT deal on what is prob a very nice hotel. But i beleive deep down that i will not "feel" like i am in vegas and there are 1000 cities in driving distance from LA that i could go for that. Even green valley ranch has a casino!

betterbidding is great.

i have been a LONG time user of HOTWIRE, and think HOTWIRE is great. i will not be using PRICELINE again. i know people that love it, and im sure it does work great. but they should be selling las vegas strip hotels that are not ON the strip. i dont care what the map says. most people have never been to vegas and couldnt tell you HOW different it is on las vegas blvd and industrial road. from what i have been told. trump is closer to industrial road.

there is only one las vegas strip anything off it should not be included in PRICELINE results.

PLEASE post the review.. thanks so much.

This hotel will fail hard if he keeps trying to push it as a strip hotel. he will have too many people who will say its a nice place, but i wont stay again.

hotels can succeed "off strip" hard rock is known for the pool and the chicks. palm is known for the clubs, vibe, great live shows. trump is know for being boring... the no casino, no smoking hotel

Just because this hotel doesn't meet your demographic doesn't mean there isn't a market for this property... there are people who want an upscale hotel close to the sights and/or don't want to smell smoke as they make their way to their room.

As well, many rooms at this property are individually owned, so they're not relying 100% on hotel guests.

Lastly, Trump is not "casino opposed", and it would not surprise me if somewhere down the road (i'm not saying it will be in the immediate future, but perhaps 10+ or 20+ years) that this property will have a casino on the premises. I really don't know the politics of getting a las vegas casino license, but this property may be a "foot in the door" for Trump to eventually apply for a gaming license, at which point it then becomes easier to get another and another.

All i am saying is they are not being 100% open on PRICELINE.

on HOTWIRE they call it a 5 star resort on the north strip and tells u stright up there is no casino. Thats how they need to do it on priceline. its shouldnt be bunched in with the wynn, and others. its like comparing apples and oranges.

Most reviews i have read said its a very nice place - but i prob wont stay there again. it boring for most.

trump is having a VERY hard time selling the units which is why they are giving away the rooms for $79. its due to the markets - but i believe having 4 condo complex's going up in city center didnt help.

and from what i read, they will not give trump a gaming license in vegas. they dont really want him there as his casinos are massive failures in Atlantic City.

three1oh - Can you tell me what travel sites you used to find the $79/night deal at the Trump? I also got the Trump a few days ago for 2/6 - 2/8 when I bid 5* on PL. But I'm paying $95 and if I can get PL to reduce it to $79, that would at least pay for the resort fee (which I also didn't know about)!! Did you call PL or email them to adjust the price?

hey.. sure - i found it on a site called tripres.com

i called Priceline and during all my screaming and yelling about feeling like i got dupped with the trump, i told them that they better match it. i told him the site, he did a search with me on the phone and as soon as he saw it he made adjustment no questions asked.

Thanks. I tried, but didn't find a cheaper rate. I guess weekends costs more $$, so I am still getting a good deal at $95/night. BTW - South Bay is a GREAT place for thirty something singles so you don't really need Vegas for that! Enjoy your stay at Trump. I'm going to make the best out of my stay!
